Need good links on the Plastibell

After being publicly and privately "reprimanded" about my posting of an anti-circ link, I need more info on the Plastibell. A friend of mine is trying to dispute my claims, saying that the plastibell is painless, doesn't require an incision and is bloodless. All I can find are links to other message board discussions, but I'd like something a little more. Anything would be appreciated. :-)

Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastibell has a description of the use of the device along with some horrible picture :Puke:

Video and still pictures here that are neither bloodless nor painless http://www.cirp.org/library/procedure/plastibell/

I found more links with google by just searching the term plastibell. Sorry but I cant stomach opening any more of them.

Thank you. These make me so much. It really makes me sick, really sick. I hate looking at them, but I needed to educate some people.

Here's a medical study on the pain of a Plastibell circ.

Important point -- this was WITH the dorsal penile nerve block, considered to be the best pain relief, and the pain relief was ineffective 30% of the time:

Quote:
RESULTS: Dorsal nerve blocks were judged to be fully effective in over 70% of cases. Neither Mogen nor PlastiBell was associated with greater pain per 3-minute time period, but the PlastiBell technique on average took nearly twice as long as the Mogen procedure (20 vs 12 minutes). We judged that 60% of the infants had pain or discomfort associated with the procedure that was excessive. Residents and interns universally preferred the Mogen technique over the PlastiBell because of the former's simplicity.
Good letter to the editor from a doctor on complications and difficulties with Plastibell circs:

Adding: people want to think their sons' foreskins are licked off by kittens. But it's biological fact that you can't take the foreskin off without a) breaking the adhesions between foreskin and glans, and b) slicing the foreskin off. Maybe your audience needs to hear that the foreskin IS the penis -- i.e. it's not separate, it's the penile skin. You can't call it a true separate part of the penis. It's all one and the same thing.

Video of the plastibell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MLtxCwdMv0

NOT for the faint of heart. This video leaves NO doubt that there is plenty of cutting, blood, and pain.

I hate how much I know about circ, sometimes I wish I could just wash it out of my mind, but I know I have these truths for a reason.
