Some kids just hate the stroller, sewchris, no matter what approach you take. My DD1 has never, since infancy, cared for the stroller, and I'm not about to use physical force to get her in it. It's not just something I can "teach" her to like.

Yes, I understand that. As I posted, I had one. He learned to sit in the stroller. I never said I taught him to like sitting in the stroller. Just that he learned to do so. If not using the stroller is an option that will allow you to get your errands done, then don't use the stroller. I also didn't say physical force; I said physically. One doesn't automatically imply the other.

We have a Peg Perego Plinko Lite (the older version of the P3). I got it new but clearance for dd2 last year. I can't say enough wonderful things about that stroller I have zero complaints and it has made me love strollers. I always hated them (but then I had cheap ones). This one is a dream, it has a 5 pt harness and dd sits in it much better than the cheap stroller before it, I think it's more comfortable.

We just have a very cheap basic umbrella stroller. The things I found most helpful when DS was at that wild running around stage were:
  • Letting him push the stroller.-Though this didn't keep him contained, it kept him busy and focused, therefore less prone to making trouble.
  • Using nonstroller stroller like ride on/ins.- for instance, we have a kettler trike with a push bar.
  • When possible dress him in matching clothing to his teddy bear.- I know this one sounds wierd, but he would sit in a double shopping cart as content as could be if he was seated next to bear wearing a matching outfit.
  • Rental strollers at the mall.- These just have much more appeal for him.
  • Avoid using the stroller as much as possible.- If you use it all the time, it will be viewed as an unhappy jail, but if you only use it on occasion, then he may start to look at it as a ride. Now at 3 yo, DS asks for his stroller.
