Friends Story

I asked a friend if they had a hard time deciding on circing their little boy. She said she looked into it a little bit. But her husband had to have him look like everyone else. She said they had visitors when it was time for him to get cut, so he went alone and afterwards he bled a lot. They had to put a rag over his penis and change it a couple times because it would bleed when they pulled it off, the scab would re-open and he would bleed again.

WOW, thats enough for me to not want to. She doesn't regret it, they just feel it was something that has to be done.

She also said that he still has some skin that she has to clean under, they didnt cut all the way back. So what was the point??

This is the kind of crap that makes me ashamed to be an American.

People just turn off their protective instincts, I think. My heart breaks for that little boy.

I recently had to change a dirty diaper on a circed 3 year old. It was disgusting--I had to 'mess' with his penis so much more to get the poop out of it than I EVER have with my intact boy.

I never understood this reasoning. Upwards of 80% of the worlds men are intact, so obviously it is not something that HAS to be done.

Denial is what keeps the circumcisors in business

That and the cosmetics industry profits TREMENDOUSLY from the extracted skin. One foreskin can be used to produce at least $100,000 worth of fibroblasts that are then smeared on vain old women's faces to make them "look younger."
And thanks to PETA, they are also forced to use infant foreskins instead of animals for testing purposes.
And I also believe that President Bush (the Second) outlined infant circumcision as an acceptable means of extracting stem cells.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the fact that they can continue to profit from fixing the "complications" that arise later in life.

Tell me about it! I never had to change the diaper of a circumcised boy until I started babysitting a 15 month old (DS was 7 mos) and after mom went to work that first day I changed his diaper and cried when I saw it. The head was purple, it was always buried, and I had to spend FOREVER to clean all the poop out. It was harder than changing my niece's diapers! A year later I started taking care of 2 other boys and, while I knew the mama was otherwise AP (homebirths, still nursing both at 2 and 3.5 years old), I didn't ask the question. When I changed the 2 year old I was ecstatic to see he was intact (as, it turns out, are his 3 brothers - 2 of which are in their 20s now). Sooo much easier to clean! As I knew very well by that time with my intact DS!
