Anyone thinking about diapers yet?

Just wondering if anyone is thinking about a newborn stash yet?
We use BumGenius for DD, so we'll just re-use those for the little one past a month or so. They're getting to need new velcro, so I've been slowly working on that for a while now.

I'm not sure what to do about true newborn diapers, though. We were experimenting with our diaper options during that time with DD (disposables, diaper service, prefolds, finally BumGenius), and I don't think I loved any of them for that first month when they're SO tiny.

I'm thinking about everything. I can't wait to get my hands on some prefolds to try them out. I also want some kissaluv's size 0 as part of my newborn stash.

for now, I think we are gonna do prefolds again...and I'd like to try some kissaluv 0's. I have some small fuzzibunz from my DS's infancy that we'll use once the stump is gone.

we'll prolly use disposables again until the meconium is gone and then our size one little beatles with snappis.

I used Kissaluvs 0 with my last and just LOVED them. I did sell them so I will have to rethink this time with less money in hand. Still using Happy Heiny's One Size for my 2.5 year old and love those too. Maybe prefolds early this time around. We shall see!

I will probably use prefolds to start, because you just can't get a better fit imo. I use kissaluv 0's last time and hated them. They just weren't absorbent enough, but I think I will stock up on some type of fitted for before this babe grows into all the pockets we have. I will be knitting up a diaper cover storm this winter! So exciting!!

I need to learn to knit. I have been saying that since DS1.

I loved prefolds for the early days, and used some K0s as well as Nanipoos and a few small pockets. I tend to go to all pockets as time goes on (and I get diaper burnout, lol) so I really love the newborn stage for trying all kinds of things.

We will be reusing DS's KL0s and pfs. I have covers and a few pieces of wool. will knit some more.

I'm working on sewing some newborn sized dipes. Not sure exactly how the final result will turn out, but I'm excited! LOL I have alot of blueberry and GAD sized pockets- small and medium and plenty of lg pockets since that was ds2 wears but even the smalls look sooo big compared to a tiny newborn!

Wanting to make the switch to cloth here, need to convince DH and get the OK from daycare, but that should not be too much of an issue.

Was thinking between the FuzziBunz or BumGenius one size AIO. From what I am reading those don't work so well on the newborns? Any suggestions?

So how difficult is it, generally speaking, to find a daycare that will do cloth? I just don't know if I should plan to only use a lot of cloth the first 3 months, or if I should go all-out.

Do you have daycares in mind? I would make that part of the interview process, to see if they are willing.

My daughter is in daycare now, and I had a 'hypothetical what if..." discussion with the temporary director. She had worked with other families who CD, and her plan was:

1) Diapers that come to them assembled, snaps or velcro, but no pins
2) Provide a secured diaper pail
3) Teachers will change, and place used diaper in pail *as is*, and will not separate poop or liners
4) Diaper pail (or liner) goes home daily with kid, and is brought back clean the next day

All in all, exactly what I would expect from a daycare. So now, I am just going to get the all clear with the new director, and then discuss/tell DH about CD.

I would just start asking around, and having open discussions with the various DCP's that you are interviewing. Definitely consider going with one of the more simple AIO or pocket type diapers, so that others can learn to use them easily. Do not expect them to do additional 'maintenance' of diapers above what they would do with a baby wearing disposables.

I heard a tip to bring a cloth diaper along when having the discussion with the DCP, so that you can demonstrate how easy it is to use the cloth.

I won't need anything but some preemie prefolds for a NB stash. I didn't expect more babies and they have made really great rags LOL

We tried so many things with DS, starting with diaper service, then prefolds, then some AIO, pockets, and fitted. ultimately we ended up using all Fuzzi Bunz and a few snap-EZ AIO's.

I have said that this time we're just jumping straight to 100% FB... but if they don't fit newborns well, I'm not sure what we'll do. Probably use what prefolds and wraps we have around from DS...

I didn't CD with DS and I really want to this time. In between his baby years and now, I learned to knit and I am pretty darned (darned, get it...hahaha) proficient. So I am really looking forward to making tons of cute longies and shorties.

My mom CDed my siblings 20-25 years ago and she still used chinese prefolds with rubber pants. I know CDing has come a long way in recent years, so I will probably be asking all you CDing veterans more questions over the next few months.

This is the first newborn that I will be cd'ing. I'm thinking I will do some xs BG AIOs, BG bamboo fitteds, and some of my own. I'm just starting out as a wahm and just finished my first batch of medium testers... now onto newborns I guess

We use prefolds and Bummies Super Brights covers. I have a nb stash of 2 nb BSB covers and 4 nb Bummies Super Whisper Wraps along w/ 23 nb orange-edged GMD prefolds. The nb covers and nb prefolds trifolded works GREAT on even a tiny newborn. I also have 3 small Aristocrats wool soakers that have been felted down to nb size & I plan to supplement my stash w/ 12 small BumGenius bamboo fitteds for under the Crats.

I'm using BG, pfs and FBs for baby P. I will probably get some nb covers and one-size FBs for this bean. I do NOT like BGs at all.
I don't like BG's either. I had the 2.0s and they fell apart in under a year, I have a few 3.0s but because of my initial experience, I won't buy them again.
