Yeah, we started out with a small (seemed big a the time!) cabinet. Then we had to put up shelves, then we added baskets on the fridge, then I added a large plastic storage bin. All that storage is overflowing and I am looking to add more shelves! AAArrghh!

We will eventually have a storage space and science/ craft area in the basement, but it has been slow going. Until then the dining area of our kitchen will be a fun and wonderful disaster!

[QUOTE=dotnetdiva;14152947]We are all over the place but have several dedicated rooms to homeschooling. I just posted pictures of our reading room here:

So, I saw your rain gutter book shelves yesterday and I had my husband put one row up this afternoon. Thank you, thank you! : What a wonderful inexpensive way to help children get excited about reading.
I don't homeschool, but have a home daycare and I have been in need of a way to display the books off the shelves so the children can see them better.
We put a 7ft. section above the couch in the library corner and have more gutters in the basement for when I move the furniture back after the summer. Those will be closer to the floor.
I am so impressed with them and have several friends I know that will be equally impressed.
Thanks again.

dotnetdiva - where did you get the rain gutters? How much are they?

I homeschool in our dining room and living room. I have a room upstairs that could be an awesomely awesome room just for that, but I have 2 young ones, and it's just easier to do it downstairs where all their entertainment is if they are awake during lessons.

Those of you who have things hung up on your living room walls...I could never do that, but I think it's awesome. Actually, I don't have the room for it because we have so many windows. I have a Melissa & Doug calendar I would LOVE to hang up, but my little ones would eat the pieces. I think when my youngest ones are a little older and not so into what I don't want them into...I will make a room just for school. We'll be moving in the near future, so maybe I can make a bedroom for that. I have a scrapbook room I do art stuff at sometimes. I can't stand my little ones up there, so it rarely gets used, although it's a great place for it. My 20 month old was uncapping anything that could be uncapped and writing all over everything with said item...

The rain gutters themselves for a 10 foot gutter costs about $5-7. I just got one at Home Depot for under $6 yesterday, and Lowes about $6 last month. Then you have to figure in the extras. The brackets which hold it up are $1-2. The ends are $2-3.

Most work occurs at the dining room table or in the living room. Books are shelved on the book shelves in the living room or in Dylan's bedroom. Library books are stored with the other library books. The pencils, paper, markers, crayons, etc. are pulled as needed from where they are stored for general use by everyone in the family. I'm thinking of putting the time line up in Dylan's room on his wall bulletin board. It covers the whole wall. With the girls, the time line went up the stair well.
