Help me with my newborn stash

So I am starting to get all my newborn/small diapers ready for the new baby, and I have no idea what exactly I need and how much of it.

So far I have:
12 NB Kissaluvs
4 NB Thirties and Bummis covers
9 SM assorted pockets
5 SM Thirsties and Bummis covers

I was going to supplement the rest with prefolds, but how many do I need? Do I need 24 NB prefolds, or am I good with 12 NB and 12 SM? Should I have 24 SM prefolds? How many covers do I need in NB and SM sizes? Are there any other covers that I should get? Thanks!

For my 8+ pound newborn - the 2-6-2 premie/newborn prefolds lasted until my milk came in...4 days....then I needed the infant prefolds......flats work too.

The bummis small are still huge on her - my fav covers for now are the Thirsties xs and natural blue clod wool......the bummis I avoid unless everything else is dirty.....

I'd recommend 2 more covers - Thirsties DUO to save $ on buying 2 sizes and at least 18 infant prefolds - 24 if you don't want to wash every other day......it's nice to have extra while waiting for laundry to dry......

Unless you're expecting a small baby - forget the smaller prefolds............

I would do the small prefolds and a few more covers. It is nice to have some extras for diaper laundry days.

So you both would say NO NB prefolds, just size small? DS was 7lb, 8oz when he was born for comparision sake...

They make good doublers for nighttime - but not necessary!

I am not a fan of bulk on babies, so I was happy I got orange edge GMD pf's (kinda close to nb size, I think?). He was 8lbs 11oz at birth. They are getting too small, at about 1 month old and 12lbs. They fit really well trifolded in the thirsties xs and bummis nb covers. If you are going to use covers, I found a pf trifolded in the cover to be easier and faster than a fitted + a cover.

I've been mostly using fitteds or pf's with a snappi without a cover during the day, and changing ds every time he pees. I go through about 20 dipes a day (or maybe day and a half) doing this.

But I'm a pocket gal at heart, and will be happy when ds fits in all his pockets well!

If you WANT to buy something else, I really like WAHM fleece covers. They seem more comfy for a nb than the pul covers. But that's only if you are itching to buy something else
