My basset, Big Mo, is at the vet being treated for a snake bite.

The vet thinks it was a small water moccasin and that, because it was small, Mo will be okay, but please think good thoughts for him. The vet is going to sedate him and insert a drain tube to remove the poison and if all goes well I can bring Mo home tomorrow afternoon.

I have a sad little girl; she has not spent a night away from her "Mocha Choca Latte" since the day we brought him home 3 years ago.

Aww, poor Big Mo! Hope he has a speedy recovery and is back to normal soon.

BTW, I bassets. I used to foster them - greatest dogs ever.

I'm so sorry. I understand what that's like - I had a cat w/ a snake bite once (and he recovered beautifully).
I hope he's better soon!

He is fine now. He had to have a drain tube (the gunky swelling thing was the size of a cantaloupe) that we took out yesterday.

I hope he learned a lesson, but I'm not really hopeful. He is always sticking his nose into places he really shouldn't, especially around the pond. I am just amazed that he's never been bitten before.
