Preparing Cloth Diapers for Sibling

I am pregnant with #2 and was wondering if i should do anything (bleach?) to my cloth diapers (includes Happy Heinies, Bum Genius, Prefolds) before the baby comes. I have never bleached them before and I"m afraid to. Anyone know?

I never did anything special with my diapers between kids. Just washed them normally.

That said, I can say that I have bleached all of my diapers-- prefolds, cotton and hemp fitteds, pocket diapers, covers, AIOs-- a few times, over the years, and they've never been harmed. Long-term use of bleach is terrible for the environment and can cause your diapers to wear out too quickly, but occasional use doesn't seem to be a problem.

Use a small amount-- a cupful for a large washer, less for a smaller machine. Add it to your first rinse cycle. Then do a second rinse, to make sure it's all out. The PUL will retain its color just fine.

So if you do decide to bleach, it'll be okay.

Nope. I made sure they were stripped and clean.

Same here. Don't plan to do anything special.

I have two in diapers, and they both wear the same diapers. I've never had a problem. Even when DS had a stomach bug, my normal washing routine was sufficient to keep DD from getting it as well.
