2.5 yo retracted own foreskin. and now sore HELP!

My ds is 2and a half. Until today his foreskin- as far as I knew from cleaning it- was still attatched. Today he started demonstrating to all of us a new skill- pulling back his foreskin. It looked pretty raw, and it looked like some skin may still have been attatched. Now he says his penis hurts. What can I do for him, and/or is this normal. He is my first boy, and we are the ONLY ones in our family who didn't circumcize so I have zero experience.
Please any advice helps

I was panicking. I just went and ead the sticky that deals with normal foreskin issues, and now I know its all basically fine and normal. Sorry guys

Nothing at all to apologize for! That's what we're here for.

The redness of the glans is its normal color, not a sign of infection or damage. And the remaining attachments are also normal. They will go away with time on their own. He may need to pee in a cup of warm water for a few days, if there are some raw areas that sting with urination. He will learn to be more careful with his handling. And everything will get easier and more comfortable with time.

Also remember that the normal appearance of the glans (head of penis) and inner foreskin is very red and moist. This is b/c the blood flow is very close to the surface.

Uneven retraction is a normal phase in the separation process.

Try to keep him from being to hands on with his penis until if feels better. Avoid naked time for a couple days.

I've mentioned before that I was around 12 when it happened to me. It came off sort of like a scab that's ready to come off does. It was a little red and sore for a couple days, but it wasn't bad.
