Looking for good HP post-Book 7 Fanfic... any suggestions?

After re-reading books 6 and 7 for the millionth time, I have decided I want to know more! And I don't care who wrote it, as long as it's good.

Any recs for good fanfics? There is so much out there, it's so hard to find the really good stuff on your own! And I know pretty much ZERO about fanfic, unfortunately.

I would especially love to find one about Albus and/or Rose and Draco's son becoming friends at school, I feel like there is a *full circle* story there !

Or really anything - pre- or post-Epilogue is fine!!, and I am ok with adult material if it happens to be in it. Thanks!!

Just posting to say, good luck! My impression is that fanfic production fell off quite a bit after Deathly Hallows came out.

Just as well. I was never getting any housework done.

Is there any good older stuff? I've never read any of it!

I like humor, so here are a couple:

The Naked Quidditch Match

Draco Malfoy: the Amazing, Bouncing Ferret

On a more serious note, The Invisible Son is a story about Percy Weasley after he parted ways with his parents. It came out before Deathly Hallows when we were still speculating about how JKR would seal Percy's fate, or if JKR would even bother wrapping up Percy's story. I thought this was as good an explanation as any, and it's better written than average fan fiction.

A Simple Act of Kindness is about Lucius Malfoy.

Why Dumbledore Trusted Snape was just wonderful. Again, it was written before Deathly Hallows came out. I was hanging out at a Harry Potter forum where we had formulated this same theory, and I was very fond of it. I was a little disappointed that Snape's story in DH didn't pan out like this. However, I don't think that DH totally eliminated this theory.

A Snape-centric story, nearly four years old and still not complete! However, I think it's well written, and who knows, maybe the author will finish it someday. A Matter of Malevolence

Yes, But... is another four year old incomplete story, and the author swears she'll finish it, yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. But I thought it started out wildly funny. It's a Snape/Tonks romance. I love that relationship.

Aaaaand if you're interested in some Granger/Snape stories I have a couple of recommendations. :

There. I think that's plenty enough to get you hooked.

Have a few recommendations that are ... adult. One in particular that blows me away, and no, the smut isn't overload level. It's a great story and beautifully written. It's not cute, though.

If you're looking for entirely noncute fanfiction, let me know.

Am addicted, myself, but only if it's well-written. No Creative Writing 101 assignments allowed.

PS - am also only willing to read if the older generation of folks are central. It helps if said older folks happen to be male, very tall, exceedingly attractive, almost-otherwordly-pale, and Slytherin.

Oh I don't mind a little smut at all!

I am partial to a Slytherin, myself, but he's blonde, and young, and looks REALLY good without a shirt on

Am not big on the son ... more attached to the father, as he is much closer in age to me ... but here is a recent rather dark/angsty story son-centered that is *very* well written. Not too long, either, only seven chapters.

Not for children, either.

"Seven Times."

If you looking for light/airy instead of dark/angsty I've got those, too, but this was the first that popped into my head.

And if anyone else is up for a truly adult (meaning mature and intelligent) story in re the father, stick with this one ... wherein Lucius learns that "mudblood" has many shades of meaning: Hungry Thirsty Crazy. A truly talented writer, writing about, well, a talented writer.

(There are actually a few more chapters already posted on another site, but I don't think the other site is within the UA, so if you want the link, PM me.)

I'm on Chapter 6 of Hungry Thirsty Crazy. It's really, really good, but something is bothering me. Hermione doesn't seem like Hermione! She is strong and smart and not one to be swayed by her emotions...I don't think she would truly go for a 'bad boy' like this. One of the things I always loved about Hermione is that she wasn't DUMB like so many women (including myself at one time) who like these sick, codependent relationships where they can fix the man. Well, we will see- I do still have to finish it.

But is he a "bad boy"? That's not clear. And I don't think it's a question of good/bad in her calculations; more a question of brain use.

Also, I think the pull of being someone's muse ... for a work she considers on the scale of genius ... for someone entirely defined by her genius and love of books ... well, hard to get past that, even if someone's past is hard to reconcile.

One of the things I love about this story ... that to me, the motivations for both are very clear. And she (the author of the story) has real khutzpah (aka balls) in her motivations for him, IMNSVHO.

I find that a lot of stories work very hard to make her "like Hermione" that they mistake brilliance for bitchiness, and assume that brilliance must necessarily mean rigidity. Which annoys me no end, because it seems exactly wrong to me.

My ABSOLUTE favorite fanfiction author is Maya, real name Sarah Rees Brennan. Most of her stuff was pre-DH, but she did write a great novella about Harry and Draco 20 years later that I thought was really good. Unfortunately, she pulled all of her fics when she got published irl but she did put out a .pdf if you are interested in it you can let me know and I will email.

Oh and her Draco is so good. He is sexy, and funny and mean and confused and totally perfect. I just wish she had written more dramione...
