How early are you seeing your Midwife/OB?

When do you all go in for your first visits? If I remember correctly, we didn't go see our midwife until 12 weeks with DD1 and then after 2 MC's we did see her somewhere between 6-8 weeks for an early ultrasound with DD2. Same midwife again this time but I'm not sure when I'm going to see her for the first visit.

I'm calling my MW in three weeks or so, and we'll probably see her for the first time at 12wks gestation.

I'm going next Thursday, but normally I wouldn't be seen until at least 9 wks. I've had a few m/cs so I may go for an early u/s. I'm not sure yet. Plus the clinic I use has changed a bit and I want to know what's going on!

the one we interviewed last night said we could come in as soon as we want to start prenatal care and then suggested around 12-16 wks. am not sure, but i might just wait until about 16 weeks this time. i found prenatal visits to be SO. BORING. last time around. i guess it depends on how i am feeling -- if kind of yucky, i just might want to go in earlier to feel a bit "pampered" -- that someone is listening to all my whining about how HARD it is to be pregnant

My first appointment is next Thursday. I was surprised when I called that they wanted me to come in so early (I thought it would be more like 8 weeks), but I am going out of town for 2 weeks on the Saturday after that, so hopefully all will look good, and I can leave for vacation reassured.

My appointment is for 8-19, I'll be about 9 weeks then.

I called my midwife yesterday, mostly because we've become friends over the last few years and I had to tell SOMEONE, haha. I see her most weeks at a local mamas meeting we both attend, but I don't think we will have a real midwife meeting until there is a chance of hearing the heartbeat, around 12 weeks. I think she sees first time moms earlier, to discuss nutrition, how she works, their birth ideas, etc, but we've been through this all before, so it's more laid back.

Well, because of my blood sugars and a tattle tail nutritionist, I already saw my ObGyn... but I had planned to have my 8 week ultrasound on Aug. 7... then my doc wants to see me on the 13th to discuss.

I have my first appointment in a week. I'm sick enough right now (throwing up 6x/day and diarrhea, have already lost 3 lbs) that I really wanted to see them tomorrow, but I talked to a nurse instead and if I need to go in to be evaluated for dehydration at least I've already given them the heads up. She sounded a bit perplexed on the phone, like "but you would have just missed your period on Sunday..." and I said "yes, but I've been throwing up for a week and a half now."

Wow, Realrellim, sounds like you're having a really rough time! Did you have such bad sickness with your last pregnancy?

Yeah, unfortunately. I threw up for 37 weeks straight. The only difference is that I didn't have diarrhea last time, and that at almost 5 weeks I was only throwing up 3-4x/day. Last night I hit 7, at which point I took the phenergen. Then I kept food down for a glorious 12 hours. I've thrown up 3-4x this morning, took half a pill (in hopes of not becoming totally exhausted because it makes me sleepy) and I'm still feeling icky.

I'm trying to stay positive. I made it through last time, and I can make it through this time. I think I'd feel better with some real food staying down, so I'm hoping that will happen today.

At the risk of telling you something I'm betting you already know: B vitamins help me immensely with nausea. I have a stomach issue that makes me nauseous (but thankfully I rarely puke) 24/7 even when I am not pregnant, and short of zofran (which gave me yucky sideeffects), b vitamins are the only things that curb it to a manageable level. Maybe half a pill and a super dose of b6?

I really hope you have an easier time this time. I can't imagine the toll it must take on your body and strength, especially with a LO.

Seeing mine at nine weeks. Don't know why that's when you are "supposed" to start. Seems to me, it would be easier just to start at 12 weeks. It isn't like she's going to be able to really DO anything. But, I'm always happy to see my midwives.

They said 10-12 weeks. I'll be 5 weeks Sunday so I figured I'd aim for around 11 weeks. Seems like a long time to wait IMO!

I'm calling today. The earlier I get in, the earlier I can have my levels tested so I can feel more comfortable. I'm about 4 weeks. Probably I'll get in within 2

ETA- I called today and my appointment is Thurs LOL I figured it would be way longer
