I notice after consuming butter and raw milk I get mucusy almost immediately.

why is that?
That just doesn't seem healthy.

sounds like a casien allergy or lactose intolerance. It's not common with raw dairy but it still can happen. Are you gluten intolerant? Most dairy allergies stem from damaged villi in the small intestine and undiagnosed gluten intolerance can do that. Just my 2 cents...

Raw milk is better tolerated than pasturized milk, but some people just can't tolerate any dairy at all. It sounds like you're one of them.

Sometimes dairy sensitivities/allergies are related to "an unhealthy gut" from consuming other foods that you react to (such as gluten), and dairy sensitivies can be "outgrown" once you've removed the primary allergen and given yourself time to heal. Other times, the dairy allergy is independent and is never "outgrown."

In either case, I'd hold off on the dairy products for now.

Thanks mammas,

I don't know if I'm gluten intolerant for "sure" but I have cut it out to see but it's only been a little over a week. My doc recommended it so I'm doing it for 6weeks but from what I'm reading it's so problematic for so many.

I'm really bummed just bought raw milk, butter(i love butter), and cheese. Although I don't notice the mucus so much with the cheese.
I shouldn't give dairy to DD then....right? She's still nursing at 13 m.o. and we deal with constipation frequently.

How am I going to get A,D and K2 into DD and I??? She's already having teeth issues.

I give my daughter either New Chapter calcium/magnesium, or Garden of Life Living Calcium. My dd (2 yrs old) likes to chew the NC ones whole and drink water afterwards (yeah, I know weird for a 2 yr old), or I can crush them in a morter and pestal and give them to suck up with a straw in apple cider. I give most of her supplements this way, but she has been wanting to take them like mama, but chews them.

I would think that the mucus feeling is from a sensitivity. I get that even with raw milk, but I am fine with raw yogurt, raw or hard cheese, or butter. Recently I got milk from a different farm, and it actually didn't leave a mucus feeling afterwards. The cows do get a different diet (soy and no soy difference), and they are a different breed too.

I use supplements. We've got health stuff going on, and I'm working on what I can with food, and using lots of supplements for the rest. Cod liver oil for the A, a separate D supp because there's just not enough in the CLO, and I use Thorne's K2 supp. The Thorne's is high dose, and most kids would probably only need 1/2 to 1 drop per day.

We use vitamin and mineral supps too, in addition to the usual healthy gut/health foods from Price & TF. I think we have barriers to overcome and I'm willing to use supplements.

That's great. That's a good idea too. DD won't use a straw yet. I wonder if they do use soy? I found the raw dairy thru a WAP leader so i didn't ask to many questions. I just assumed they were just grass fed. but they have to supp something since they're in PA and it snows in the winter right?

Tanya
I agree that some supps are needed while trying tget health back on track. We are taking blue ice fermented CLO. I should still supp vit D for DD and I?
I'm taking about 1/2 t of CLO and I just give DD a few drops throughout the day.
Should we be taking more?
I also take butter oil and just ordered liver caps from Dr. Ron.
Is thornes pure?

You can give her cod liver oil and make sure she eats lots of greens: broccoli, kale etc. At 13 months you can chop up kale and steam it really well then put it in other foods. My daughter loved that. She still does.
