whole food vitamins

Hi,

Okay, I'm fairly new to organic foods (roughly 6 weeks), so I haven't converted everything. I've got most of the basics (dirty dozen list), but I haven't had time to try to study every food that I could get to fill our vitamin & mineral requirements. I've also kind of put dh in shock by deciding to homeschool, not vaccinate, switch to organic and not circumcise (after talking about how it would be a great idea) all in the space of roughty 6 weeks. He's been really supportive bit by bit, but I also don't want to come across as a pregnant nutcase either!

The baby would let me keep down my original vitamins (thankfully), and I was upset to find out the children's vitamins I was recommended contained aspartame. So, I'm looking for a whole foods supplement that I can use during and after pregnancy. I'm still working on getting adjusted to not having all the additives I'm used to having, so switching radically to something like wheat germ for breakfast is not going to spark me to run out and get some.

Any suggestions?

The only prenatal vitamins I used were by New Chapter called Perfect Prenatal. It does contain fermented soy though so if you have a soy allergy, don't use it. It is the best prenatal though. I don't give my almost 3 year old daughter a multi cuz I haven't found one without sugar. The natural ones in Health Food Stores contain either fructose or cane sugar. Out of all of them, I'd recommend the one by Nordic Naturals called Nordic Berries. I work at a small Health Food Store so I've looked over all of them.

Instead of a multi for my daughter I give her Cod Liver Oil everyday, probiotics (S. Bouldarii strain cuz it fights off colds and flu), I slip about a 1/2 tsp of Black Strap Molassas into her buckwheat cereal in the morning, I put about a tsp of Acerola pwd. into her apple sauce for natural vit C....she has a pretty well rounded diet so I don't worry to much. I don't all of these things every single day but often enough.

I take One 'n' Only Women's Formula and just started it because I'm doing some iodine therapy. Otherwise the only supplement I would normally take is Cod Liver Oil.

I didn't know about any natural prenatal vitamins but I got some Garden of Life vitamins for women and have started taking those. I also choke down some CLO each morning (along with my girls). LOL I think CLO (no matter what flavor you get) takes some getting used to.

I like Garden of Life Living Multi and took it while pregnant/nursing, BUT the women's one has a number of herbs in it, some of which I believe are not good for pregnant/nursing, so I switched to the one that's not for men or women (it's light blue on the label). Note: there's little iron in it if that is a concern for you!!

As a side note: I tried the new "Vitamin Code" ones but it made me nauseous 24/7!!!
