Do I prewash new flats?

Hey mamas!

I'm just starting to use cloth diapers, and I have a question. I've read that with prefolds, you have to wash and dry them a bunch of times before you use them. Is that true with flats too? I just got unbleached birdseye flats. Can I just put them on the baby, or should I do something to them first? And I don't have a washing machine, if I have to prewash them, could I do it by hand and line dry them? I could take them to the laundromat if I need to, but it's raining, and I kind of don't want to

Thanks in advance :

I'd wash them once - but not to prep them like you do with prefolds, just to make sure they are clean before you put them on baby.

I would do a quick cleaning, like you would with new clothes and things. You don't need to do quite as much as you would with prefolds though =)

Thank you! I washed them and we're ready to go. I feel so much better with her in these than in disposables! :

one quick wash on any product is always a good idea.

glad they seem to be a good fit.
