Has any made any of the recipes out of this book? It seems like a great way to cut down on our grocery bill and get healthier bread, but it seems way too good to be true.

I made the basic recipe (haven't bought the book... Mother Earth News printed the recipe along with an article). It was really good, I thought.

I LOVE the peasant bread recipe. It is very easy, but not very healthy. I tried the whole wheat bread today, and I'm not as impressed with that.

Downside: it requires some space in your fridge. Like a 5 qt tupperware container.

we use it all the time. baguettes, boule, pita, pizza and the lastest calzones!!!!
i really like it. find it pretty easy and love having the dough ready when i am. it is as healthy as anything i can get in the store but more because there are no perservatives no conditioners and no sugar. just flour salt water and yeast. i use a half and half of unbleached white and whole wheat. Enjoy.

Love it! But as a PP said, it does hog up a lot of space in your fridge. I use a mix of white and whole wheat flours and get pretty good results. My family loves it. I coat mine in sesame seeds before I bake it and it's just as good as, if not better than, the $5 a loaf sesame bread we get at the store.

I really like it. The texture of the whole wheat isn't as great as the traditional bread I make, but the tradeoff in time and effort is worth it to me.
