Knit soakers and care instructions

Thread Starter
I knit my first soaker the other day (will post pics eventually). It turned out super cute. I knit it in Paton's Classic Wool, since that's what I had in my stash, but my mother-in-law brought up a good point: How do you care for a 100% wool soaker? Do soakers often get soiled? If so, what is your favorite method for cleaning?

Thanks mamas!

You might want to check in diapering as well...

But- wool soakers are like the easiest part of diapering. They require so little work it isn't even funny. Lanolinize and go... until poo happens- then was and relanolinize. I only wash mine about 1x/month. They don't stink I swear!

I'm a week into using the wool soakers I made, and so far it is easy! I lanolized them before baby came, and now I just let them dry out when they get damp from urine. Only had one diaper blowout so far, I just threw it to soak in the sink with some wool wash and came back later to press out the water and lay it out to dry.

I would love to know the pattern you used, or how you modified an existing one. I have some of the Paton's wool also that I was hoping to use for soakers. I am a relatively new knitter, so not so great at substituting one yarn for another in patterns yet...so any advice would be great!
Thanks and looking forward to seeing the pics!
