Does anyone remember this Electric Company/Sesame Street cartoon?

This is really going to be a stretch but it's worth a try!

I've been having a great time lately looking on youtube at old Sesame Street and Electric Company sketches, cartoons, and songs. Sometimes I come across one that's unfamiliar, but once I see it I realize I remember it... that's really cool when that happens.

On the opposite end, there are things that have been in my head for 25-30 years that I'm LOOKING for, and it's so exciting when I find them... LY, t-i-o-n, Ladybug's picnic, That's About the Size of It... awesome, awesome stuff.

Anyway, today watching LY I was reminded of another cartoon. But it's only the dimmest of dim memories... more an impression than much physical fact. I'll try to describe it as best as I can, just on the very slim chance that someone recognizes it and can identify it and point me in the direction of finding it!

I don't remember what show it was on, I'm leaning towards Electric Company because it was kind of 'dark'. But it could be from anywhere.

ALL I REMEMBER... I think it was black and white, or at least very dark and monochromatic. I remember a pair of children sliding down a staircase... on the banister? It's dangerous... there's a pool of razor blades at the bottom, or something (I may be mixing that part up with a Weird Al song lol)... but there's a feeling of helplessness and danger anyway. Something dangerous waiting at the bottom. The kids are scared, it's not a 'fun slide'...

That's ALL I have to go on. I can't remember the song. I can't remember if they were on stairs that vanished and turned into a slide. I can't remember any other scenes... if it's a series of dangerous events or just that one, or if there's a plot to it.

I just remember REALLY loving it, being really affected by it, frightened by it, etc etc.

Ring any bells for anyone?

Just thought of something else... you know how things will slowly come back to you lol...

I'm not CERTAIN, but I THINK the plotline was that it was about nightmares. And it may have been one kid, not two, but I'm not sure. But pretty sure that it was a bad dream.

Sounds like Edward Gorey possibly? Edward Gorey's The Gashlycrumb Tinies?(A is for Amy who fell down the stairs...). It's an alphabet book but they so often animated those when I was growing up. Also his cartoons were the intro for PBS' Mystery (I think) series.

I quickly googled that... I recognize the cartoons from the Mystery show heh. But that's not the bit I'm looking for, unfortunately.

Further memories... it's not a "smooth" animation, more like a series of moving sketches in style. The stairs... again, I'm not sure if I'm just mixing up different things, but I think the idea is that the stairs were the razor part, and at the bottom they fell into... hydrogen peroxide? LOL... I remember being like 5 years old and being fascinated with the gruesomeness of this. It wasn't bloody or gory, just scary - a bad dream.
