Need book recs for baby sweaters/hats/blankets

Hi all,

I have *four* babies to knit for between now and Jan/Feb. While I would love to do a blanket for each, I find them super time-consuming. So I was thinking of sending little newborn sweaters/ hats, and saving the labor-intensive blanket for my own little one.

I need some book recommendations with patterns that are simple enough for a relative newbie like myself. Nothing fancy, just sweet, simple clothes.

Any ideas?

I have found Debbie Bliss patterns to be super easy and very classic and adorable. Can't think of any books off the top of my head, but I usually find her things easily at the public library.

Are you on Ravelry? (If not, why aren't you there?!! [kidding]) If so, there are tons of adorable and free baby patterns.

Thanks so much for the recommendation! I'm not in the US (so no access to American knitting patterns at the library) which is why I was thinking a book would be a good way to go. I'll definitely google Debbie Bliss.

As for Ravelry, no I'm not on (yet!!) though if they have tons of free patterns I will definitely give it a shot!

Thanks again for your help!

Debbie Bliss involves a lot of seaming, and her patterns aren't always completely intuitive. If you can find Natural Knits for Baby and Mums by Louisa Harding, I bought it a while ago and I'm loving it. Lots of seaming, though, but some really sweet designs.

Ravelry has a super-duper pattern search facility. It's nice. Easy.

Also, look at the Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman: and, in fact, the February Baby Sweater by the same author. Both very simple, but very effective.
