Why do I torture myself?

I think that I need to stop reading snarky comments on circ, sigh.

Some of the ones recently that stood out were (I've paraphrased slightly because I can't remember them exactly), "Parents who don't circumcise their child are also likely to feed them junk food or neglect their education. Circumcision is the first step in health and parents are neglectful not to do it."

"If circumcision is a human rights violation, then so is trimming hair and fingernails. They are both a matter of hygiene."

Why do I go and read this junk? I need to just focus on positive. Stuff like this is not making me feel happier or more productive.

I don't mind the snarky comments. They're easy to tear apart and they only make the commenter look ignorant and hysterical. Comparing RIC to trimming hair and fingernails--seriously?

Maybe you should take a break and read some of the more positive threads here. Give yourself a chance to heal a little.

How funny. My child is not circumcised and I would be he eats healthier food and has a better education than many of his mainstream circumcised peers. I'm not sure why someone would comment that not circing your child was neglectful and likely to be fed junk food. Sometimes people just like to make blanket comments to make themselves feel better or justify their own actions, you know.

Keep visiting websites after you've taken a little break. try not to worry about the negative comments but think more about the lurkers who read. Those are the ones where you are planting seeds and hopefully they will research the circ decision before they make it.

Where did you even read crazy comments like that? They dont really bother me, mostly just make me laugh a little. Like how crazy can someone get to relate surgery to hair cuts? lol

OP, I feel the same way. I hate reading crap like that, yet I can't stop myself from reading it, either (there are many ignorant comments in regard to lactivism, as well). It puts me in a foul mood, BUT I try to turn it around in my mind.. the more p*ssed off I am, the more vocal I get (well.. at least, online!).

Unfortunately, I read things like this all the time on anti-circ youtube videos. People can be really really ignorant sometimes. :

In reality you need to cut hair and you need to cut nails both toenails/fingernails.

I think TLC had espisode on the lady with the LONGEST FingerNails and Toenails- that was more grosser than someone eating worms or that snot looking dish that comes from fresh cooked snails.

You need to cut hair or you will turn into cousin IT and not be able to see anything and have hair in your mouth while eating.
