Clean House!

SO I have recently become obsessed with the show Clean House on the Style network. Well an episode I was watching last night may have soured my obsession a bit! A couple was going over the reason for their sleeping arrangement with their 2 yr old and the mom whispered into the hosts ear that it was because she was still breastfeeding him. Well she blurted it out and the whole cast freaked out! They were appauled that someone could be BF a 2 yr old still. I understand about at that age perhaps nightweaning and getting the child to sleep in their own bed but its ignorance such as that, which is the reason many woman are ashamed to BF past a year let alone a few months! The lady replied by saying "I'm Euopean we like boobies" which I think was cute but there was really no need to defend the reasoning behind giving your child a healthy start to life! I don't think I can ever watch that show again w/o thinking about this, man I really liked that show too!

That's really too bad that they reacted that way. Still, BFing past one year is so uncommon, that most main-stream folks are just completely unfamiliar with it. If I were you, I'd write the show/ network a letter to voice your feelings about their reaction, and to educate about the benefits of "extended" nursing. That way, you can watch your favorite show with a clean concious!

I watch more clean house then I should and there are only 2 episodes that made me make this face : The one you are talking about were the woman is bfing a 2yo and one where the woman is planning a home waterbirth and niecie wrinkles her nose. Its not as strange as the BFing one tho.

So, IMO you can continue your clean house binge.

yup - i saw that - and I was none too happy, but the PP is right *sigh* - it is 2 out of 200 or something... much better than the rates we see BFing misrepresented on baby story/bringing home baby

Didn't see the waterbirth one! I had a home waterbirth and would most likely be mad at that too! I think I will write the show, thanks! Neecy lives in Atlanta, maybe I can convince her to meet up for cofffee and discuss
