It's VeeGee's World - I'm Just Livin' In It

As always, here are the generic questions, but AndVeeGeeMakes3 may have more specific ones for you!

Blog Critique Questions

1. What do you think of the layout? The number of columns? The colors?
2. Does my profile info read well? Does it help readers 'know' me?
3. Is the writing interesting to read?
4. Should the writing be strictly educational, or include personal posts to add some personality?
5. Is the content worth coming back for?
6. How can I bring more traffic?
7. How can I generate more comments?
8. Is there something that you feel would take my blog to the next level?

Yeah, yeah, everyone knows what I am going to suggest at this point. Sidebar=long...maybe roll up catagories.
Gah, I'm a one trick wonder, I tell you!

No, I really did find your posts to be well written. I read the birthday party one, and the whole group sounds...."special"....

The layout...I'm torn. It's kind of plain, and little gloomy looking. But I've done plain and/or gloomy looking off and on since I started blogging. And the header seems a little out of place. Since it's V's world, maybe a photo that has V in it? I think that the Father's day one, with V and K have their backs to the camera, could be incorporated into an excellent header image. Heh. I haven't messed with blogger code in the last 6 years, or I'd be all over that, b/c my fingers are itching for it. hehe.
I think maybe if the header wasn't so rainy-day-ish, the charcoal background wouldn't be so gloomy looking.

Anyway, just my thoughts. I really did enjoy reading you.

after reading a few posts, i bookmarked your blog. i think that says a lot about how much i love it.

i love it for content, but i don't mind the looks either. light text on a dark background = easy on the eyes, and i think it coordinates nicely with the b/w photo. that sidebar is truly super long - you could have three columns, so it's not as long; you could get rid of some categories; you could feature links to a few blogs at a time, and rotate through your favorites frequently so that it's not such a long list but they all get some time on your blog.

i'm off to go keep reading because i'm completely sucked in.

I'm already a follower of your blog, so that says something!

I'd love a few more pictures. But your stories are wonderful.

Cute A happier color might be nice on the blog but it is a nice one, I like it.

I like the simplicity of layout, but I had time reading because of the color scheme. Someone above mentioned it was easy on the eyes, but I found the opposite to be true. I found the content to be very interesting, esp. the academic stuff (I used to be a prof.) but I found myself skipping to the end of each post after reading the first few sentences because my eyes hurt so much. But the content was interesting enough that I actually considered copying and pasting the posts elsewhere so I'd be able to read them. Often when I come across a blog with a dark background, I just think, okay, not for me...

Another of the pp suggested changing the header photo to something more pertinent, and I agree.
