I finally found bras

I am a very happy camper :::

I finally found BRAS. Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaas! I have been MISERABLE in my one ill fitting bra for months. Finally it got to the point where it fit so badly the straps were falling off constantly no matter how I adjusted it.

So, a few months ago I tried going to every store imaginable to find a bra without spending a ton of $$$ I went to Motherhood, Target, AND Wal Mart. I couldn't find anything! I figured I was going to buy a Bravado bra online, but today as I was trying to shop in my ill fitting bra and we were out anyway, I was like OK THAT'S IT!

We went to Nordstrom. I thought that they sold Bravado, but apparently that's only online (who knew?). I did find two bras that worked, and I got properly measured by the very helpful sales lady. I found out at least part of my problem was that I was a little off on my size. I'm a 38 DD (probably soon to be DDD), not a 40D. I bought two exorbitantly priced but well fitting bras, one is a soft cup that fits now and will accommodate me if I get a little bigger and the other is an underwire (that didn't dig in! it's a miracle!) bra that I bought in one cup size larger than I am now.

I forgot what it's like to go to a store where the sales people are actually helpful! Anyhow, just thought I'd share.

eta: now I just have to find panties....

They were awesome, as higher end stores tend to be. I generally don't shop at places like that becuase they're expensive but...I discovered once you hit DD/DDD territory finding a bra that you can stand is worth it's weight in gold. It didn't seem prudent to spend money on cheaper bras that were too uncomfortable to wear! And as much as I wanted a Bravado bra...buying bras online is so scary. You never know if they are really going to work or not.

Totally. I really thought I could fit myself...I sold bras for years...but uh, apparently, no. I was way off!

Congrats! I just bought two new bras from Motherhood today - not sure exactly what the styles called, but theres no adjustment in the back, and they just pull over your head.. and then the bottom part pulls up to nures. They are SUPER comfy. I almost bought two of their nursing sports bras too, but just didn't feel like we could quite afford that right now too

I love nordies for bras! Paying that much for bras is painful : a properly fitting bra is worth its weight in gold though

Glad you got fixed up!

Yeah, I tried every single bra they had. Seriously. All of them. Nothing was comfortable, nothing fit right, nothing looked right. I dunno what my problem is! Well...they discontinued my favorite style, that's part of it.

Yes, it is painful. But it will be sooooo worth it.

Does Nordstrom sell nursing bras? Is that what you got? If so I am totally going there as soon as I can! The nursing bras at motherhood always fall off my shoulders or don't adjust far enough up. That or they are really lacey, ugh!

Yes they do. There was only two brands and maybe four different types, but YMMV.

They had the Elle Macpherson nursing bras and then they had the Anita nursing bras. I bought one of each.

I'll have to go to Nordstrom's. I am in the same boat, wearing an ill fitting bra that still fits. I am a 38 DD/E, I am praying that I do not end up a G cup like after my 2nd birth. Thank you for posting this, I too went to motherhood and it was terrible!

Take care!!

For all you large breasted mamas, I *think* the biggest size I saw was a 40F (which is like, DDD I think). And in that size, they only had the Anita nursing bras, which are expensive and underwire style, but they are REALLY nice at lifting the girls up. I bought mine in a size bigger than I am now, 'cause I know the girls will be larger when full o' milk.

Wonderful, good bras are a necessity IMO.

Motherhood is a joke for larger cup sizes. I started with a 36DD and have gone up to a 38 DD, and who knows where I will go once babe gets here, but I am guessing my rib cage (which feels HUGE) will shrink down at least a little, will put me outside of the cup sizes Mothrhood carries. For over a DD the smallest band they carry is a 40, because getting big boobs is so uncommon when nursing : I will most likely try Nordstroms or this boutique bra shop (which actually had great prices!) to get fit and then switch to Figleaves.com to buy more since I so could use some new bras!!

Bought one of these a couple weeks ago, and yes, they are really comfortable! The only problem I've had is that the holes they have in there aren't quite large enough for my..ehem...large chi chis, and it sort of digs in after a while. I just have to adjust it periodically.

Couldn't agree with you more! Bras are one of the few clothing items I refuse to skimp on.

Talula Fairie thanks for recommending Nordstrom! I went today to get fitted, although they had no bras in stock in my size, 34E! I was like "holey cr*p, thats big!" The girl said that most women tend to be a 34 or 36G! Oh my!!

So I ordered one from their online service. But to think, I have been getting measured everytime I go other places and have been undermeasured. No wonder all the bras I had with DD were uncomfortable and all the bras since! (They did have one bra in my size, but it was flawed so I didn't buy it. But it was comfortable!)

So thanks again for the recommendation!
