Gynecologist in Montreal

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a friendly, open gynecologist in Montreal?

My current gynecologist is retiring soon and I have had recurring issued with abnormal pap smears so I need to find another.

I have been to many gynecologists who were arrogant old men so I would really like to find someone I feel comfortable with!

I live in the east of Montreal (St-Leonard) so it would be nice to find someone not too far.

Bonjour Sourire,

I am looking for a gynocologist too, though I've heard the best way to find one is to get pregnant. Then you can find one very quickly.
I am looking for a gyn to insert an IUD, and it seems like I will have to wait a long time. Am considering going to Plattsburg and paying cash for this service.

I don't want to get started on the health care system here, but I find it sad that access to women's health care is so difficult here. Especially birth control and just someone to talk to. This afternoon I went to a pharmacy and talked to the pharmacist on duty. It's sad that SHE took the time to talk to me, give me advice on some women's issues. All this without waiting hours/weeks/months for an appointment.

By the way, I'm in Rosemont/Petit Patrie on the border of Villeray St Michel. We're neighbours!

Nice to meet you neighbour!

I can confirm that pharmacists are very helpful, my fiancé is one Also my brother-in-law and sister-in-law are family doctors so I have no problem getting medical advice, it is more an issue of having the actual tests done.

Actually I regularly visit a naturopathic doctor and I much prefer her services to the mainstream doctors but because of the mainstream doctors' lobbying she is not legally allowed to perform tests such as Pap smears even though she is trained to do them. What an unfortunate situation.

Also I have no intention of speaking to a gynecologist when I get pregant as I am hoping to use the services of a midwife.

Hi Sourire...could you not consult a GP for pap smears? I still see the doc that delivered my DD at the Herzl clinic and she's a family doc. If necessary, the GP could refer you to a specialist...
