picnic foods

Our family is trying to stop eating out so much to save some money. the main reason we do it so much is that it just feels more special than eating at home. I was thinking of doing a picnic this weekend so we could still have that nice feeling of eating somewhere other than home but not go out to eat. Any ideas on what to make?

Mains:
Fried Chicken
Hoagies
Pita pocket sandwiches
Anything that is not an "everyday" food in your house

Sides:
Potato Salad
Coleslaw
Broccoli Salad
Bean Salad
Rice Salad
Pasta Salad

Add'l produce:
Corn on the cob
Pickles
Olives

And then at this time of year, you have to have fruit salad, IMO.

And then drinks of course... lemonade, iced tea, water, etc.

We do picnics a lot to have something while saving money we'd have spent on eating out. Sometimes we'll do a roast chicken. Or fresh bread and cheese and greens. Or apples, raw milk cheese and hunks of salami and a big salad. Sometimes we'll grill sausages and serve them over cole slaw.
