Prefold users- am I missing anything?

I just made a prefold order and I think I might have my CD stash complete. Tell me if I'm missing anything:

Diapers:
2 dozen LL infant PFs
1/2 dozen S Kissaluvs fitteds
1/2 dozen S prefold-fitteds
2 dozen LL capri PFs
1 1/2 dozen M prefold-fitteds
2 dozen LL premium PFs
1 dozen LL regular PFs

Covers:
3 S Wool
6 S PUL
3 M Wool
5 M PUL
3 L Wool
2 L PUL

I also have a roll of liners for the meconium days...and I'm budgeting to get a sprayer before too long.

Am I missing any thing? Anything you would add?

Wetbag(s) for your diaper bag, and wetbag(s) for whatever you're using for a diaper pail. I have 2 of each. Nothing fancy.

What about cloth wipes? They're easy to make and lots of people just use cheap baby washcloths instead.

What about snappis or pins to hold the diaper more secure? We have found with our little guy that not snappi-ing results in blowouts.

I second the cloth wipes. Buy some stuff to clean/treat your wool at the same time.

wetbags, and def a snappi. i wish id thought to buy one even if it was just for the nb stage. it felt like i didnt have enough covers because they were always getting pood on and i was too tired at that point to wash them out by hand (i had 8 covers total). i still use it with her now that she is in med, but a lot of people prefer to just trifold the prefold. i also agree about the cloth wipes. they are much easier than trying to sort the sposie wipes from the cloth diapers before washing!

Wetbags, Snappies, a diaper pail with liner.

And maybe a dozen or so premi? Those infant ones are pretty big for tiny newborns.

Thanks for the tips.

Wetbag- I was planning on using plastic grocery bags for wetbags : but I guess I could send them to the recycling bin and get wetbags. How often do you have to clean them?

Clothwipes- are they really better/easier? I was thinking about using regular wipes...but could be convinced since they are so darn cute. How many do I need? 2, 3 dozen?

Snappi- I have 2, is this enough?

I have Lanolin left from when DD was a babe to treat the dipes- it should still be good I'm assuming (5 years)...

Tiniblackdot- I'm expecting at least an 9 lb-er, would I really get my $$ worth from premi PFs? I'm worried about him outgrowing them in 2 weeks!

Thanks so much for the tips- I'm soo excited!

I wash them every time, but I just toss them in with the diapers and I washed diapers every 2 days when he was little.

We use baby washcloths and really you can't have too many. We wet it with a peri bottle. I think we have 3 dozen, and we still come up short sometimes, but he has icky toddler poo now. We used to be fine. They are easier because the diaper and the wipes are all going to the same place... it's actually harder to use disposible wipes. (Unless you have a bigger toddler. I use them for really gross poo now, but not when he was tiny.)

Absolutely. Until you lose them. :

Squeeze some out... I'm sure it is. (Does it have an ex. date on the bottle?)

I don't even bother with newborn dipes... can't even imagine. He only used his NB sized covers for 2 weeks. But a bulky bum doesn't bother me and it never seemed to bother DS when he was little. (He was 9lbs 5oz)

You could just use plastic bags for wetbags, and then recycle them - but I think you'd appreciate a pail liner, or more likely two. When it's fullish, turn it into the washer like a glove and it gets washed as well. The second one goes into the diaper pail and the two of them rotate. They're not price - about $15 I think? And have been well worth it for me. If you didn't want to get ones for the diaper bag I'd be way more likely to use plastic bags there.

Wipes - I think I have 4 dozen or more and hardly use any now that I'm dealing with firmer toddler poop but frequently ran out with newborn poop that seemed to require 4 or 5 per change. But every kid is different of course. They're cheap. Get more rather than less.

And as for the newborn prefolds - my babe was 8.6 and only wore hers for about 4 weeks. In retrospect I wouldn't have bothered. What I'd do now is get a dozen or two flats to be used in that stage, because they can then be used at every stage - as backup extra diapers, as a quick change pad, as extra absorbency. They're cheap too. Although I think I heard many places are sold out until the fall for some reason. Flannel can't be snappied, birdseye can.

If you're having to order snappis, rather than buy them locally, I'd get around 4. They get misplaced, I've had one or two break on me. But I'm still snappi-ing on my 18 month old, I don't like trifolding a diaper.

Interesting to see people's preferences. I only just got a wetbag last week to use in my diaperbag - I don't use anything in the diaper pail - just rinse it each time I empty it.

I use a snappi on my flannel prefolds - I'm assuming it must not work on some flannel but I've never had any problems getting it to work on mine so I'm not 100% sure why it is frequently warned that it won't work.

I had 8lb 9oz baby & am glad I didn't have the newborn sizes. In fact the small covers never fit him.

We actually have never mastered using the cloth wipes since we moved. We used to have the change table right in the bathroom & would wet them at the sink but now that it's in the bedroom it's such a fuss. Plus dh bought about a million disposable wipes. One of these days I'll get better organized & switch back again. What I have discovered (by accident) is that the disposable wipes wash up really well, so now I sometimes tuck the dirty wipes into the diaper (when we're out & about) & don't worry about it going into the wash with the dipes.

Get a thermos coffee pump-pot thing for next to the change table, and possibly a small thermos with a lid for the diaper bag (it's cold here in the winter, in the summer I don't bother with that). Keeps warm water warm for days and makes it very easy to wet the wipes.

NorthernPixie - what a neat idea. I think I'm going to give that a try. It's the cold water thing that has been discouraging to me.

Ok, I got 3 doz flannel wipes and a couple of pairs of pins (just in case I lose/break the snappis), and the wetbags.

I'm so excited! Thanks guys! :

We have a wipes warmer that works great. Wet a bunch of cloth wipes under the sink with hot water, squeexe out, and place in warmer. They stay warm and are easy to grab with a wiggly baby who has a poopy butt!

you are going to love flannel wipes. they are so easy.
I hope you got a nice wet bag for travel. I used to just rinse my pail out, never considered buying a liner and we did fine without it.

Good luck.
