My neighbor has a large bush on the side of her house that smells like licorice. She has told me that it is an anise bush, but she has never harvested the seeds before. I have done some baking with anise in the past, so my neighbor has harvested a huge bucket of seed pods for me. Problem is- I don't know what to do with them. I've tried looking them up on the internet, but I can only find information about the star anise.
So, I have several questions
1- Do I indeed have a type of anise?
2- How do I harvest the edible part? What I see it a tiny branch with little pods sticking out straight up from them. Are the pods themselves edible or do I have to do something to extract the edible part?
3- Can I cook with the seeds as is, or do I have to "extract" the something somehow?
Thanks
