OK, so I have a little over a month before my first LO makes his appearance (that is if he doesn't come early!). I was thinking that I am all set for the first month or so, depending on his size of course. Would you CDing Momma's take a look at what I have and make any suggestions or comments about my stash? How about the "next size/stage" up. Thanks!

Newborn Stage Diapers
24 Green Mountain Diapers, Orange Edged Newborn Size
2 GMD infant fitted diapers
1 Knicker Nappies 2G AIO/pocket size: Small
1 Fuzzibunz AIO/pocket size: Small

Newborn/Infant Stage Covers
1 Thirsties x-small
1 Thisties small
1 Bummis Super Brite small
1 Bummis Super Whisper Wrap small
2 Prowraps Classic small
1 Imse Vimse newborn size (although it looks bigger than small!)
1 Imse Vimse small (seems to run big)

Next Size Up Diapers Infant
12 Green Mountian Diapers, Yellow Edged
9 Kissaluvs Fitteds size 1 (small-used)
1 Kissaluvs Fitted size 2 (med-used)
1 Swaddlebees AIO/Pocket size med

Next Size Up Covers
1 Thirsties medium
3 Bummis Super Whisper Wraps Medium

One Size
1 Bum Genius One Sizes 3.0

8 Inserts/Pockets Stuffers (a bunch of different kinds)

I have
2 diaper pails already
8 Cloth Wipes (but tons of wash clothes)
cloth wipes warmer
3 snappies

I know I have to get:
2 pul diaper pail liners
2 wet bags
more cloth wipes?

Anthing else you can think of?

You don't have enough NB/XS size covers. Small will be too big and you want at least 6, preferably 8, newborn covers. You won't get the PFs on tight enough to prevent poop from getting on the covers (b/c you will be new at it and the newborn poop is explosive.)

Also, maybe a few more NB/XS fitteds/pockets/AIOs for ease of changing when you're out and about.

I agree, you will want some more xs dipes - prefolds and AIOs. The AIOs are great for when you're out or if you have someone else watch your little one. Congrats and good luck!

That's way more than I had and I felt like it was plenty. My babies only wore newborn for a few weeks, and I could spot clean newborn covers pretty easily. I think I had 5-6 covers and it was plenty. I used the small for a lot longer, but they were in Mediums by 3 or 4 months and I was glad I hadn't invested a ton in newborn.

Just depends I guess.

Not planning on being out away from the house much. New house, new area, not a lot of friends and family close by. So no one else will be watching my newborn..at least for the first 3 months.

How many AIO's in the xs/newborn stage would you recommend? If I am planning on washing every other day.. I should be ok with 24 prefolds, right?

Just from a quick glance at your list, I'd say you'd probably be fine with 24 prefolds for 2 days. It might only last you a day and a half, just depends on how often your baby poos and how often you change!

From what you have down, I would still recommend maybe 1 or 2 more nb size covers. looks like you might only have one or two that fit well at first. That's just my opinion. In Thirsties, for example, the smalls aren't designed to fit a nb - you really need the xs. You might be ok with the bummis small instead of nb at first. It's hard to know what size that baby will be!

I like to have a few aios for conveniece, but I think I only have 3 or 4. Like for going out or middle of the night when I can't open my eyes wide enough to get a prefold on.

The rest of your list looks ok as far as I can tell! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and that new baby!!! I'm due in 2 weeks and getting excited, too!

It really depends on what size your baby is. If you get a little one, like 6lbs-ish, you're going to need more xs covers, because the smalls won't fit. DS was 9lbs and we used smalls from day one. Do you have somewhere local that you can buy covers? If so, wait and see and maybe send someone to pick up a couple of xs if you need them. If not, order them, but don't prep them, and if you don't end up needing them, send them back.

I'd prefer to have at least 36 diapers for a newborn, they poo SO often. We had I think 37 and still would get pretty low by day two.

I wouldn't worry too much about the larger sizes right now, wait til you know what you like and what works for you. You don't have to buy it all now.

a few more nb covers. you can be comfortable with 5 if you hand wash and allow to dry in between.
If you already have the covers you can keep your expense down a little with fitteds. They are a two step system, but in my experience for out of the house they provide better protection with a good cover. While I once made AIO's back in 2004, I never fell in love with them and discontinued them. I prefer fitted's or pf'ds.
