Heartburn Poetry

I got fed up with all the heartburn today...it's gotten to the point where super-strength Zantac, Tums, and Papaya Enzymes don't last very long. : The only thing that seems to work best are Watermelon slushes from Sonic! Yeah, I know that's wacky. I got so angry that I wrote a poem about it and thought it might make you laugh (DH got a kick out of it). Here you go...

"Heartburn"

Heartburn, heartburn go away!
Come again some other day!
I’m sick of spending all my money
Buying meds to ease my tummy.
I think that it’s a problem chronic.
Will someone take me to a Sonic?
For only a watermelon slush
Will cause the fire and burn to shush.
I know it’s weird, I don’t know why.
This heartburn makes me want to cry.

Baby, baby come on out!
You’re making mama’s tummy shout.
Not to mention back and hips.
Oh wait, I need to take a sip.
My tummy burns, my tummy festers.
Don’t you love the third trimester?
Come on, kid, do mom a favor!
Get a move on with the labor.
This heartburn should be so unfounded,
So come out now, or YOU ARE GROUNDED!

Love it!

It's good to keep a sense of humor through all these bizarro things our bodies do.

Now we need an ode to vulval varicosities, a ballad for pelvic pain, a limerick for linea nigrea, and maybe a sonnet to stretch marks.

Too bad my raging case of placenta brain is going to prevent me from coming up with any...

I hear ya.
I am now also downing extra strength Mylanta several times a day and twice during the night- on top of all the Zantac.

The best part is I remember after DD was born it was just gone. Immediately. I no longer felt pregnant with the terrible heartburn and regurgitation.
I think I said "Oh wow, look at her. I can't believe we made her! OMG, I'M NOT PREGNANT ANYMORE, YAY!" Seriously.

Oh I love the poem it's awesome!!!

I remember finding a little book at the library during my last pregnancy and it was called something like "Pregnancy The Musical" and it had all the songs in the book and then a disc with all the songs being sung. Reading your poem made me think of all the funny songs in that book associated with pregnancy! It really was a laugh

s I only seem to have heartburn at night, but it does indeed suck! I've found that 1/2 tsp of baking soda in water seems to help mine immensly... don't know if you've tried that, but if not, its worth a try!!

I was having texture cravings and decided to eat some baking soda...I have done this many times in the pregnancy. But the other day I read on the box that's bad! Lol. You're supposed to do like you're doing with the water...but that isn't appetizing to me.

Sure you can! I had awful HB yesterday but then woke up this morning to a dropped baby, so less pressure on my stomach and not a sign of it today. He/she's done this before...dropped and then next day is right back up in my rib cage. I've been joking I have an elevator baby.

Today I've had tons of energy instead of wanting to sit on the couch and go, "BLLAAAARRGH!" at everything. No nesting instinct, just lots of energy. I know that increased energy and a dropped baby can be signs that labor is around the corner. My MW is at a birth so I said to baby, "You can't come today, our MW is busy with another mommy and baby! Stay in for at least 24 more hours and don't do your elevator thingy again!"
