quick traveling question: pullup or no pullup

Tomorrow morning DD and I are flying to Florida to visit my SIL. She has been potty trained for over a year now, very rarely has accidents. I've always put her in a pullup on a plane before - her last flight was in January. Should I bother this time? She is in full-time undies day and night, I have exactly 1 pullup to my name. She can hold it forever - she only pees 4-5x a day.
WWYD?

I would probably keep her in underwear...sounds like she can control it pretty well. How old is she?

I wouldn't bother with the pullups.

Have a great flight!

I agree. My kids actually did BETTER about accidents when traveling than not. Some of it is the novelty of checking out different potties than their own, and the parent thinking more about oh, it has been a couple of hours, let's go potty!

She turned 3 in April. I forgot I don't have a siggy yet. Off to fix that.

I'd skip it and just make sure she has lots of opportunities to go, especially before getting on the plane.

Thanks for posting this question.

We're flying Rome to San Francisco on Wednesday. DD is freshly potty learned and although she has only had one accident (not counting a few drops here and there) since then, I'm thinking that I should put her in a pull-up for the flight. (At least for boarding and 'til the fasten seat belt sign goes off when we won't be able to rush to the toilet.) She refuses to use a diaper though. Hmmmm... I wonder what I should do....

Anyway, it sounds to me that you don't need to use pull-ups if she's been ok for about a year. Only what the pp said, to make sure she sits on the potty right before boarding.

no, I think skip the pullup. also, Miss 1928, I think you could skip the pull up too. I suggest, just being prepered for accidents. In your bag have a few small towels, baby wipes, a muck bag, underpants & pants.

No.

Micah turned 2 in April, and he has been potty trained for a little over 3 months -- about 2 months night and day. We just flew from Kansas to Georgia with only undies on, and he did great. I took him to the restroom in the airport just before boarding, again right after refreshments were served on the airplane, and again right after landing. I think that with her having been trained for a year, she should do fine. I didn't even think about potentially needing a change of clothes until after I checked our bag! I was a little nervous about that, but it was fine.

I used to use them on my young (preschool) potty-learned kids for airline travel. As soon as DS became emphatic about it, I didn't push the issue. My reasoning for having them wear them, even after "trained" though, was that trips to the potty tend to be the "I have to go RIGHT NOW mama!!!" type - and that's never a good thing if it's take-off or landing time. Or waiting in line for take-off, then a delay, then waiting, then the take-off and the waiting for the seat belt light to go off....you get the drift. :

When I had a young (preschool) child who didn't protest, I opted for a pull-up as a back-up. We'd keep undies in our carry-on to put on when we landed and I'd tell them that the pull-up was just because there were some times when it is a saftey rule to stay in our seats and buckled and those times may be longer than they could "hold it." Hasn't been an issue with DD because we haven't traveled recently...

The one thing I'd consider in this circumstance, potty-trained or no, is whether DC is likely to sleep during any part of the flight. Although my DS was day-trained at age 3, we used pullups for quite a while at night because he was far more likely to have an accident while he was sleeping.

For us, a flight to FL is less than 3 hours and I probably wouldn't bother, but an international flight involving several hours of travel might involve some napping, and I'd rather be safe than soggy.

Only if she is going to find airplane toilets scary. (DS finds self flushing toilets scary.)
