After 12 weeks, shes home!

DD2 came home on June 12th!!! She on lots of meds (for her heart), a g-tube and uses a pulse ox at night but shes home and SO happy. She smiles all day. I think its from realizing that her family is around all the time instead of some of the time in NICU.

She was being weaned off methadone and actually was so happy, we weaned her a week early (with no problem).

Im having so much fun dressing her up and holding her. Its weird that I dont have to ask permission to pick her up, I can do it whenever!!

::: For weeks after DD came home, I got the biggest thrill out of just carrying her around the house. I would pick her up even if she was napping - just because I finally could. (I like to think that is why she is such an affectionate child today ).

Linds - congrats to you! It is such an incredible, and surreal experience to walk out of the NICU with your baby! And now you are at home, together, getting to know one another without an audience. Amazing! So glad that you are having a great post-NICU experience so far. You sound like you are in good spirits and heading straight into an awesome relationship with your little one.

Congratulations! It's the best feeling in the world to bring them home. Enjoy it! I held my son every day all day for weeks and weeks after he came home.
