Tips on Coping with Engorgement?

Thread Starter
My DS is 5 and so its been a long time since I've been at the beginning of the nursing process.

DD was born on 7.29 and my milk came in today, 7.31. All is going well but they're SO FULL and SORE! I want to nurse every hour just to relieve the pressure but she's not hungry enough to take all that I've got and I don't want to flood the poor thing.

Any tips for how best to cope with the engorgement discomfort without adversely impacting supply would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Cool cabbage leaves sometimes help - or cool gel packs. Hand expressing can help too - just enough to relieve the pressure so you don't make your body think you have twins.

Reverese pressure softening can help if baby has a hard time latching - I can find the link on kelltymom if you need it.

Hope you feel better soon
