Did you leave your birth pool inflated? - Page 2

I left mine inflated in an empty room (door closed, window cracked) for 10 or 12 weeks last time around! It seriously needed to off-gas, plus it was nice not to have to set it up during the birth!

I also really loved the fishy pool. We used it for my last birth and I'm hoping to use it this time around. It was very sturdy and very comfortable. I'm so sorry you have a big hole in the La Bassine. I would still call and try to complain and see where that gets you. That's a bunch of b*****t.

YAY! My birth pool is going to get replaced. New one will be here in a few days. :

La Bassine has a .05% failure rate (industry standard is 3%). I'm just unlucky,

Yeah, it wouldn't have worked. Upon further inspection (to cut out pieces of the hole for the manufacterer) we found not one but TWO holes right on the seam (so they could not be patched). One was about 1/2" and the other was maybe 1/8" They were some pretty serious leaks. You could HEAR the leak when the pool was fully inflated.

DH made sure to drain it not long after the birth, since it started getting soft again. The benefit of the three rings, though - no worries if you lose one, it'll still stand and hold the water, even if the level has to be a little lower.

If they don't replace it, you could always try some thick, strong packing tape and/or duct tape. A couple layers, cris-crossed, and fill it up again when you go into labor.
Luckily they are replacing it, but the leak was at the bottom of the pool, where the seam of the wall met the floor. Not sure tape would have worked, eventually it would get waterlogged I would think? Not even sure a glue would work.

You are scaring me about the cat thing though! We have cats. Ack! I wish I had an extra room to store this thing.

I had an electric pump which could inflate the pool in less than 10 min. I did not trust my four other children to leave it alone.

I'm freaked about my cat jumping on mine too, I have banned him from my room, LOL. So happy it is resolved for you!

We inflated ours in early labor. But it only took 5 minutes with the pump it came with (BPIAB).

We inflated for a test at 38 or 39 weeks, delfated, then inflated again when I went into labor. There's no way we would have the space to leave an inflated pool in our apartment. We had one of those dual-action pumps and it took my DP 30ish minutes to inflate the BPIAB.

well my dog ate the last birthing pool and the cats love to climb on the sides and try and jump in and the children want to bounce all over it, so nope, mine is not being blown up until i go into labour. with an electric pump it only takes about 15 minutes.

We left ours inflated... even though it basically took up our entire living room. It was worth it even though it sat there from 39 weeks until I delivered at 40 weeks 6 days... my 1st birth was 6hours long and this one was 3.... including the prelabor stuff.... so no way I'd want DH dealing with all that- I probably wouldn't have gotten a water birth!

Our fishy pool is 95% inflated now and will stay that way until I need it. It fits perfectly on top of the crib when it's propped on it's side. I don't trust my kids or the dog to leave it alone but it's out of their reach. We have an electric air pump (yay for summer clearance) so it will only take a few minutes to put some more air in.

I wish we had room to leave ours inflated. We live in a two bedroom apartment, so there really isn't any extra room. Hm.
