Freezing kefir milk

I thought this was discussed here but I couldn't find it...??

Anyone know if anything survives when freezing kefir milk (not the grains)?

TIA!

I know smoothies would be better but ds and dh really like the frozen ice pops I make.

You have the right idea. I use my goat milk kefir to make smoothies with strawberries and bananas then pour it into the mold to make popsicles. My husband and our 7-year-old son love them.

I also use my goat milk kefir to make vanilla walnut ice cream for my family. Both my husband and son hate goat milk kefir but they love my my popsicles and ice cream. : I don't believe freezing damage the goodness of kefir.

I make frozen kefir, just like frozen yogurt. I'm not sure if anything survives or not, but it sure does taste good. I make it just like frozen yogurt, without the ice cream machine. I use plain kefir, add some sugar or honey, and some vanilla extract. Then freeze. Every hour take it out and stir to break up ice crystals. Continue this until it's almost solid. Then eat! Delicious! I've developed the habit of making smoothies out of the frozen kefir. Some of my creations are not so healthy though, including my fruity pebbles kefir smoothie. But I figure it's much better than store bought ice cream!
