Should I be worried re: breech @ 25 wks?

I realize she has a lot of time to turn. I just read that 25% of fetuses are breech at 35 weeks, and only 3% at term, so I guess that means I needn't start worrying? But her head is planted underneath my right rib cage and she looks soooooooo happy and comfortable there. I'd hate to risk out of a HB just because of this.

Also, I know this is a question best asked of my own midwife in a few weeks, but will some midwives allow a HB with a breech baby? I think I remember reading this...that in a hospital, a breech first baby = CS, but not necessarily in a HB.

TIA. Believe it or not I've gotten way better about worrying about stuff that hasn't happened yet this year. But I'm regressing about this for a sec and I'd appreciate input.

No worries. WAY too early to be concerned

There are some HB midwives here who will do breech- depends on the area.

Dd2 was breech at 30 weeks. She easily turned with one try at a breech tilt. My midwives weren't concerned at all. It was actually one of the questions we asked when we interviewed them was whether they could attend breech births. (They attend breech, VBAC, and twins.)

25 weeks is way to early to be concerned about it. Chances are, your babe will turn in plenty of time.

Contrary to what the others have said. I say start doing inversions, leaning forward not back, down dog, those sort of baby turning techniques a few times a day. Not to stress about it but at least to get baby thinking in the right direction.

This is my second breech baby and it is driving me crazy. 38 weeks and still heads up. With the first one I was told not to worry not to worry and then oh my god worry worry at 34 weeks. I ended up with a version and a vaginal HB.

This one I decided not to freak out and didn't do anything imparticular. MW will deliver breech. So I'll let baby decide the best way to come out. Well after much research about breech delivery I'm just not feeling 100% safe with it. Hoping to go for a version this week. But even though I've had regular chiro visits for the last 9 months, and I lean forward, no cushy chairs or sofas, I've only started inversions at 36.5 weeks.

Wondering if I'd have started at 25 weeks if baby would have turned. Next pregnancy I'll be starting at conception:P)

IMO, its never to early to start aiding in good positioning!

I believe that 25 weeks is too early to be concerned. My OB expressed concern when my last baby was still breech at 33 weeks, but I knew it was still too early even then. I started sitting on the floor or on the edge of the couch (instead of leaning back) and tilting my pelvis forward to make sure it was open enough for her to flip. In retrospect, having an exercise or birth ball would have been fantastic for this. Your little has plenty of time to turn mama.

I agree... don't worry, but do take proactive steps to allow baby room to turn. Spinningbabies.com, I think?

Everyone I know had a baby breech around 25-30 weeks! Mine was breech in the early 30s and I did inversions, visualization, and sang him a little song while I inverted to tell him to go head down.... he did, no worries.

i wouldn't be overly worried but i would start doing some postures to encourage baby to turn if not right away then in the next few weeks

I'm 25 weeks and breech too! I can't help but worry, too. I have been doing a few things the last few days, but not ready to give up sitting comfortable etc!!! I checked out spinningbabies.com and the website was so hard to navigate...I was overwhelmed.

I am mostly worried because I have huge babies and so if they tell you not to worry til 32-34 weeks then I should worry about a month before because my baby would probably be the size of a 32 weeker at 27 weeks. I don't want her to get too big and get stuck.

Plus, the kicks in my cervix are really getting to me. Are they you? Last night it went on for hours!! Never had it like this before.

I wouldn't even give it thought until about 32 weeks. They are still flipping and turning and moving all over at this point. If my baby was still breech at 32 weeks I'd start doing something to encourage a flip before it got too tight in there. I wouldn't stress until about 35-36 weeks, but I'd start being proactive at 32. That's just what I'd do.

Too early to worry.

That said, I saw a chiro from 22 weeks, and she did the Webster technique preventatively from that time on. Not sure if it helped, but DS flipped around 30 weeks to vertex, dropped around 33-34 weeks and was perfectly LOA on arrival. So, I'll definitely be seeing a chiro again for the next baby!

If you're stressed about it (I was too!), then maybe start seeing a chiropractor for Webster technique and general good pelvic alignment. There's also acupuncture, which is said to help. And spinningbabies.com But, don't stress too much. Not yet, anyway!

Too early to be worried yet.

Mine turned at 32 wks...I wouldn't worry! (Though I did, too...esp b/c 2 of my friends were saying their babies were always head down).
