What is your hb mw saying about n1h1?

I am curious, what is your hb mw saying about n1h1 in terms of the vaccine, precautions, supplements, treatment, etc? Please be specific if you can. I am meeting w/my mw on Tuesday and will keep you posted on what she says, if you are interested.

THANKS!

I haven't talked to my mw, but will be taking precautions that DON'T involve the vaccine. We had a Disney trip planned for late Sept that we cancelled since it is one of the world's mixing pot and lots of germs. It seems like the flu is hitting hard there. Obviously lots of hand washing, sanitizer, vita C, etc.

The only time it has come up is when I had to go see my family doc for something not pregnancy related, my mw warned me that they might try to push the swine flu vaccine on me (which they didn't anyway)

Mostly same for us - treating it with common sense as we would with regular flu or any other illness. I'll go to jail before I allow them to vaccinate me, my little one when he's born or my DH. Even if I were pro-vax, I would be very skeptical. The vaccine is being developed on the fly in such a short amount of time without much clinical trial, if any at all. I have more faith and trust in natural immunity. Washing hands frequently, taking vitamins, eating a healthy diet, avoiding doctor and hospital waiting rooms if at all possible, etc. is pretty much our plan of action right now.

I am curious as to what MWs are saying, though, so please do share.

My midwife said that she's already had about three of her mamas have it and it hasn't presented a problem. Just like any other flu. There are always extreme cases, even with the regular flu. My youngest and my DH had it. Oddly enough my older daughter and myself didn't present any symptoms. In any event we'll be dosing up on Vitamin D, raw garlic, and a "master tonic" (onions, garlic, apple cider vinegar, etc.)

Fda

According to the FDA web site http://www.fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVac...es/default.htm the N1H1 vaccine and the normal seasonal flu vaccines aren't even tested or liscensed for pregnant women. This seems really scary that we would get a shot to protect us but could harm the baby, I say wash your hands alot and use extra sanitizer.
