Thank you. Life sucks right now and I am having a hard time accepting it. Doesn't help that DD2 slept awful last night and wanted to nurse all night long. Which means Mama didn't get much sleep. Sigh....

Not to mention DS fell off the swings at school today and scratched up his face (which the school called this morning to tell us). Egads the kid has been in school a week and already we have been called.

I don't really talk about this too many people. So its nice to have a place with people who understand what it is to live paycheck to paycheck.

Have you ever had to wait to get dental work done so you could get the money together???? People always tell me, get it done now. So easy to say for them when they make 30 bucks an hour.

UGH--I kwym

Not quite the same, but I put off my wisdom teeth extraction for like 8 years--part of that time due to $$ issues. By the time I got them out, they were pushing my other teeth around and causing me to not be able to close my jaw all the way for like 12 hours at a time here and there It was pretty scary.

s about the car repo as well That has got to suck. i don't have a car payment, but I worry all the time about what the cc company is gonna do to kill me Apparently I have "triggered the penalty rate", which will apply in 6 weeks unless I pay the whole thing off. Riiiiight. They don't even tell you what the penalty rate is, i have to look it up in some fine print somewhere or call them. I'm bracing myself for like 34% or something--please just gag me now.

My DH is having seizures again, which means among other things that he's not going to go back to college this semester. It's so sad to know how helpless he feels. And....it looks like we qualify for a small amount of foodstamps, medicaid for my youngest, and pregnancy medicaid for me--but they won't give DH medical regardless of any health problems b/c he's not a US citizen

Yep I am not US Citizen either so I never get approved for Medical. And according to medicaid we make too much. (like a dollar wtf?) We do have foodstamps (15 bucks a month) thats it.

Sigh. The sad part is, we've been working on his citizenship paperwork for ages, but who the heck has $700+ to throw at USCIS for processing fees?? : I know they have a fee waiver--once we have our FS paperwork as proof, I think I will pursue it from that angle....

So I've been unable to get ahold of my academic advisor for two days now, and I am stressing. The class I'm enrolled in right now is called Crime in Society, and I am an emotional 30 weeks pregnant and cannot handle reading about children being tortured and murdered etc etc.... I want to switch my class and do this one later, or not at all. : I have assignments due tonite for it, and GRR--if they won't switch the class for me I'll not only have to suck it up and read that text, but my assignments will be late whine, whine....

I know from personal experience that if you don't pay the cc bills for a while, they slash your payment in half and no fees. : We've been unable to pay cc's for a while, so they have been offering "settlements"

I have been here for 8 years, I have send them papers and processing fees and they keep finding (surprise surprise) something that they need that we "didn't" give them. Which we did. They just take my money look at it, and find new reasons. Even when my husband was in the military. I am so tired of it. Just give me my green card so I can at least get a drivers license. But here I am, I do everything accordingly, and someone hops a fence and can get all the benefits.

It looks like I never get anything done without a lawyer, and who has money for that???

Welcome to all the new people. :
It's good to see you, and not good at the same time (kwim?)
Only 6 more days till my FS are renewed, AND payday is the same day, this month That means I can buy food AND essentials (tp, shampoo, etc) AT THE SAME TIME
That doesn't happen very often (can you tell?)
THen I get to hit the thrift stores cause my younges DD needs more school uniforms. But she has enough till then (I hope...)

Does your school carry second hand uniforms? My son's school does, and usually they sell them to people who are tight. We haven't had to do that, but the option is available to those in need.

I totally know what you mean being good and simultaneously not good to see us. That is way cool that you will be getting FS and your check the same day! I get my food stamps on the first. I need to restock my pantry. Need to go through, make a list, make sure things get rotated appropriately, and get replacements for the things I need to. Right now I have buckets of lots of grains and beans and now I am going to buy replacement buckets and start using up the older buckets, except maybe the wheat which is supposed to stay good for a couple years at least. I am going to do the same with all my more expensive grains and dried goods that I have in mason jars. So that means no organics for us this month except animal products (which we eat very little of) and our CSA box 2x in the month. I need to get the cheapo stuff to stock the pantry, which means we will be going to Winco instead of the health food store or the store where we get our CSA. Really hits home that without FS we would probably not be able to eat nearly as well. I am so thankful that at least we will have lots of good food through the winter (FS approved through January!):

I will need to borrow DP's bro's camera so I can take a pic of my tattoo and my skirt and the clothes I have made for the kiddos so far! I keep forgetting.

I so know what you mean about being able to get everything at once. It's the best feeling. Probably something most people don't even realize. I used to go grocery shopping on dh's payday... every payday and get everything we needed for that 2 weeks. I could throw everything we needed in the cart and not pay attention to my running total as I went. It ended up being $175-$220 every 2 weeks (food and household items). Another couple times a month I'd go and pick up $30-$50 more. Oh how I miss those days! That amount would probably seem like nothing to a good number of people but for us that was quite comfortable. It wasn't always organic, a lot of it was packaged... but it was food!

I have my first food assistance appointment on wednesday. The online calculator shows us getting a little something (and the newer online calculator shows us getting a little more than the previous) so I hope the numbers all add up to something when I go to my appointment. It rather hard with dh's pay structure. Food stamps goes by the current month and projected income. Dh's pay is so all over the place that if they only used one month to calculate it would be horribly off. Not to mention the fact that winter is soon approaching and dh's pay is notoriusly bad during winter... hopefully they take that into account. I don't have any expereince with this so it's all a mystery to me.

My husband is going through this now as well. He has severe dental problems that should have been fixed years ago. There simply isn't the money to do it. I feel horrible for him because he's in a lot of pain from it.

I've been feeling really depressed lately about everything. I'm trying to feel thankful for the things we do have. Like, for instance, I picked up a small box of canned goods from CL yesterday. It had a few cans of olives, green beans, and tomatoes. Just enough to make the pantry look full. Knowing there is food in the house (at least temporarily) makes me feel much safer.

I like doing a thread once a month, this one seems to be popular enough that it will fill up fast.

(((HUGS))) I am thankful to not be in pain yet though. But I do know what dental pain feels like. The last molar I had pulled was really painful.

Oh yeah, I know all about waiting for dental care. Actually, I need dental care now, but I can't find a dentist that takes my insurance OR
isn't a complete hack I've noticed that (at least here in my part of the state) all the dentists that do take my insurance are terrible!!!!!
And I don't have the money to go somewhere good.

I called my dentist and told him, look we can't just cough up 1600 dollars. It will be end of the year beginning of next before I can have it done. He did tell me that if I see any swelling or it starts hurting to give him a call and he'll perscribe antibiotics.

I just need to stay away from Dr Google. If I believe Dr Google I will should've been dead a few million times. LOL!!!!!!
