***TTC in our 20's - August*** - Page 6

Alright...need some help TTCers!!!

I've been using the dollar store OPK tests. I started on CD 9 and got a negative. On CD I tested and it was slightly darker. CD 11 and 12 seemed the same. CD 13 was negative, missed CD 14, and today, CD 15 I got another negative. The tests seemed darker when I first started taking them compared to now.

However, I am getting EWCM today as well as yesterday, my cycles are normally 30-31 days long...which would make sense if I'm O'ing halfway thru my cycles. Any chance I could be ovulating on CD 10 or 11 instead?...even with no EWCM? I haven't temped at all while TTC baby # 2.

I haven't posted much here in the TTC forum because last month I was obsessive, posted everyday, and I was really sad when AF showed...so this month I decided to just relax more and try not to think about it much.

Anyway..any advice would be great!!

I looked at your chart, but didn't see the red block. Maybe it had disappeared by the time I looked at it?
They are on the second and third charts, not my newest one. But thank you for looking anyways.

Monday Check-In:
Name: Lindsay
Date: 8/17
Chart: http://fertilityfriend.com/home/Lyndzies
Where are you in your cycle: CD 37, 12 DPO. O'ed a week late, thinking AF will be here on Wednesday.
Appointments: None
Symptoms if they apply: Boobs are killing me. Guess this is a pre-AF symptom I never noticed before, not just a pg symptom for me.
Testing: Nope
Thoughts: Just wanted to pop in real quick... I'm (hopefully) just finishing up my post-m/c cycle. If things go the way I think they will, next round of insems Labor Day weekend-ish. I'm so excited to start TTC again; this month off sucked! It's impossible not to feel like a month off is a missed opportunity. BUT, I'm glad that we didn't take the chance of me being 39 1/2 weeks pregnant when I'm supposed to be in one of my BFFs wedding.

HOWEVER, I'm still hoping to be in a maternity bridesmaid dress.

Where are you in your cycle: 9 DPO

Thoughts: I *finally* O'd, which is really exciting, seeing as it was about 11 days late due to jet lag. Unfortuneately, we'd worn ourselves out BD by the time I O'd, and we only BD 3 days before ovulation, and I had basically no sperm-hosting EWCM. So, I think our chances this month are pretty small

Just a note to anyone traveling - it says in numerous places that jetlag can mess with your cycle, but nothing as to what it actually does. In the 2 cycles that I have charted and been jetlagged, my O was delayed 9 days one month, and 11 days another month.

Hi there. wanted to update that yesterday morning I got a neg OPK but last night before bed I got a positive opk. This morning I tested again and once again it was positive. So Im going to do AI in about an hour and then again tomorrow. I hope this one sticks! Send me your positive vibes! I had a question though. opk tests dont show positive WHEN you are ovulating right? so as long as it is positive it tells me that pretty much I am GOING to ovulate right? so if its negative I missed my window right?
oh one more thing...is it better to do AI with a full or empty bladder?

And I have a chart question! I just (obviously) started a new one, and way over on the right side it has "stats" as the whole block colored red. Would someone care to inform me of what this means?!? Its on my other old charts too...

http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/27c94c
I'm not sure, but I always thought the stat line was for FF's predictions. Like the green box is when ff thinks/thought you would be fertile and the red box is when they think af will show. Check it agains the little eyeball symbols in the calendar to see if they line up.

You could ovulate on cd10 or 11, but with a 31 day cycle I would say its not likely. I've not had much luck with opk's, but I have read that they don't always get progressively darker throughout your cycle. You could definately still get a positive later in your cycle. If you just started getting ewcm, I would think you'd ovluate w/in the next week or so.

opk's tell you that you are going to ovulate, I think the positive comes about a day before O. From lurking on the IF forum, I think most RE's do IUI anywhere from 18-36 hours after a positive opk. Good luck with your AI! :

YAY!!! CONGRATS!!! ::::

My DH and I are going to be trying out that whole "as much sex as possiable" thing this month, even if we are both sick of sex by the end of the cycle! Lol.

MONDAY CHECK-IN (on tuesday!)
Name: First Shot Photo
Date: August 19th
Where are you in your cycle: CD: 6
Chart: http:
//www.fertilityfriend.com/home/27c94c

Appointments: None for TTC, but I'm ALWAYS going to appointments for work...
Symptoms if they apply: Pretty nasty cramps, unlike what I've had in the past, and little nauseous, but I have GERD, so I'm not surprised that I'm feeling sick.
Testing: I WANT to do OPKs this cycle, but my cycles have been SOOO long, that I'm going to end up buying so many of them! Plus, I have never used them before. Any thoughts on the matter ladies?
Thoughts: DH leaves for basic training in 61 days. So if I'm keep up these long cycles, then this might be my last change to conceive before he leaves...

So, worst case scenario is that you test every single day between now and when your DH leaves and you don't get a positive. 61 OPK test strips at

http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com

are $36.60, plus the aggravation of testing everyday and not getting a positive result.

On the other hand, you had a 40 day cycle last month, so there's a good chance you might have a same length cycle this time around. So, if you started testing tomorrow, you might get a positive around day 26, which means 19 days of testing, starting tomorrow. The cost for 19 OPKs is $20.14.

So, if it were me, and I could spare the $20-40, I'd go for it, especially given that DH is going away for so long. Most people spend far more on iced lattes and mochachinos every day than we do on pee sticks

I got my OPKs and pregnancy tests I ordered online today! YAY!!!
I'm actually on CD6 now.

I've had an IUD for the past 4 years so I have no idea what my cycle is like. Before that I was on Depo for a year which took my cycles 1 year to come back. Then I was on NuvaRing for a little while before going the IUD route. Point is that I've not had a normal cycle since I was 16. I don't know if I have long cycles or short ones. So when should I start taking OPKs?

Also I do shift work - 12 hours/4 days a week. (8:30am - 8:30 pm) It's hard to take the OPKs when your bathroom has 3 stalls and you know all of your coworkers and you don't want them to know what's going on. I really don't want to carry out a pee cup. I'm not sure I even want to carry my purse to the bathroom. (I was just thinking that getting a tiny lunch box to carry the pee cup and test in could be a solution since I'm known for going to eat at weird times.) I guess my question is if I should take them at 2:00 every day or what?

I don't have any insight into your question about timing, but if you do it at work, I found that using one of those little measuring cups that comes on the top of Nyquil bottle, (or any of the children's medicines) worked really great. Don't feel shy about messing about in a bathroom stall doing your OPKs - people will just assume its that time of the month for whoever is in the stall, and won't give it a second thought!

On a totally different topic,

http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/

just announced a summer sale - use the code "potatosalad" to get 10% off OPKs and pregnancy tests
