Any substitutes for tahini?

I want to make hummus but have no tahini at the moment, and I can't go 15 minutes to the store that has it right now! Do you have any recipes for hummus using something other than tahini? Or another hummus-like spread? Thanks!

it tastes fine w/out tahini - I leave it out all the time

You can just omit the tahini...its still pretty good. Grind it a bit more chunky than normal for texture.

I often use a little bit of peanut butter instead!

Thanks, guys...I'll just omit the tahini.

Sleepnrain, does the PB give it an odd flavor? I might try that!

I'm sure you've already made it, but I add plain yogurt when I don't have tahini (and sometimes even when I do). It makes it creamier.

If you have sesame seeds you can make your own tahini in 5 minutes or so... it's really easy.
