ring sling or hotsling?

Which do you prefer? I have a ring sling, but the tail is really long. Someone gave it to me. I have been looking at hotslings, but don't know if I would like it. Can you wear a baby in a hotsling, up and faceing the holder? Thanks for all replies.

My very first carrier other then a snuggli was a ring sling and I also did not like the big tail flapping around
I then got myself a hotsling and fell inlove. So worth it! I got it when my youngest was still brand new and now she sits on my hip in it. She cannot face out if that is what you are asking but in a hip carry she still sees lots.
there are quite a few carries you can do with it. It is all listed on the website.

Thank you for your post. I did end up getting the hotsling and I also love it. It is so much more comfortable than my rs. I was aksing if the baby could do a hug hold in the hotsling. I think from the instructions they can. Thanks again.

I have used a Hotslings pouch with DD for over 2 years...I love it! And, yes, up and facing the wearer is possible with a Hotslings. In fact, that remains one of DD's favorite positions...:

Sounds like you've found a good solution, OP, but I'll still chime in to say that I didn't like the non-adjustability of the Hotsling. I used the tail of the ring sling as a shade for the baby on a sunny tram ride, and I also tucked a diaper in the zipper pocket (of the Maya RS) and didn't have to carry a diaper bag on short trips, which was nice.

I enjoyed the hotsling very much untill ds was an older toddler and wanted in and out fourteen times an outing and was wearing muddy shoes or boots. Then the ring sling was my preference as I could bend my knees, put his feet on the ground and loosen the ring. The hotsling was just a bit more difficult to get him in and out of. But from the ages of four months till about 18 months I loved the hotsling more than anything.
