allergic to California Baby rash cream?

My 10 month old has a reddish rash around his bum..with this past diaper change...we are using prefolds during the day and a sposie at night....i've used CaliforniaBaby diapers rash cream(calming)$10 at Target.... brand before with no problems....i just bought this brand a few weeks ago and use it anytime i see a reddish area. Well today i put it on his bum and he cried and cried...i put him straight to the bathtub to rinse it off.
The cream is not really cream..it's a bit runny..i dont remember it being that way before.
Poor baby....what could be causing the ouch factor with this cream?
Any other suggestions as to natural baby care creams i could use?

The essential oils used to scent the California baby rash cream (and diaper area wash) can cause sensitivity/stinging for some skin (including my son). I love many of their other products, but not the diaper area ones.
Here is a great comparison chart of diaper rash creams: http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.co...rashcreams.htm

Pinstripes and Polka Dots is a great resource for cream info. My favorite cream is Grandma El's. It's about the same price, but I haven't found it in any stores (find a website with free shipping!)
