I'm just AMAZED that other people deal with this. I hope mine is sun induced & not caused by disc problems in my cervical spine as that seems like a self-inflicted death sentence to me.

I wonder if sun block works or if I need to wear long sleeves to the beach/pool?

Anyone else have this? My arms don't itch below the elbow, but they itch more at night & the itching is HORRIBLE in high humidity.

Your post brings back the most horrible memories to me. I had something like that when I was in my 20's. It ALWAYS occurred after spending time in the sun, and always on my upper arms. I think I had 3 episodes of it. I tried everything from calamine to dermaplast to heavy duty benzocaine ointments. The only thing that helped in the slightest was baking soda and vinegar and sleeping! I don't think it lasted more than a day or 2 but I never knew what it was. How long have you been itching? It is debilitating and I am so so sorry that you're going through this!

I would definitely opt for either staying out of the sun or wearing long sleeves.

It's been going on for 3 YEARS! I scratched my right arm bloody last week, now it has a nice white scar that will probably never go away. :

It always gets worse towards nighttime & in high humidity, so it's been constant for the past few weeks here in muggy SE PA.

I'm trying to remember if it bothers me in the fall & winter & I think I remember it bothering me in the winter too. I'm not sure. I hope not because that would point more towards a disc problem. I think I'm going to ask my chiro about my x-rays & see if he thinks it could be disc related or if it would be more likely to be the sun.

I've spent so many hours on the internet looking up parasites, mites, food allergies, environmental allergies & nothing ever fit until this. I emailed the article to my ND who has been as baffled as I have for the past few years - can't wait to hear what he has to say.

Interesting....

I don't know if you remember but I had the very same thing, although I am completely itch free now and have been for a couple of years without doing anything - it just went away on its own. My itching started when I was pregnant with DS who is now the exact same age (to the day) as your DD1. I don't think mine was sun related, however I could see it being spinal because now I think about it, I had back pain issues which have completely resolved since we bought a tempur pedic bed two years ago. Hmmmm.....

I have had this insane itching on my upper arms for about 8 years now.  So bad I lose sleep and just want to take a knife to scratch through the skin.....I have tried everything ..ice used to help but not anymore and nothing really helped until now.

I started to take Milk Thistle daily and at night i clean my arms with Witch Hazel...after that dries I rub them down with Dr. Fred Summit Arthritis & Sport rub (found at big lots  & it is red liquid) after that dries I liberally apply vics vaporub and I do not rub it in...then I put on a long sleeved shirt and it seems to control the itch for most of the night!  Hope this helps some of you!
