MD-vaccine exemptions -- X-posted in FYT

So my son is, for the most part, not vaxxed (one delayed vaccine so far, maybe we'll do more slowly). We were planning to enroll him an MD Montessori, but just got their paperwork, which states that they "do not accept" the religious exemption form.

I accepted that, asked for my deposit back, and enrolled him in another school. But I just got around to researching, and I see that MD law states: "Unless the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene declares an emergency or an epidemic of disease, a
child whose parent or guardian objects to immunization on the ground that it conflicts with the parent’s
or guardian’s bona fide religious beliefs and practices may not be required to present a physician’s
certificate of immunization in order to be admitted to school"

That means they're not ALLOWED to refuse to take the religious exemption form, right? Is there anyway to read this to apply only to public/publicly funded schools? Does the fact that this is a religious Montessori (same religion; obviously, I'm interpreting certain rules differently than they do) give them an out?

Do I even want my son in a school that doesn't want him? What do you suggest I do?

If it is a 100% private montessori school that accepts no public funding (I would research this) then no they do not have to accept the exemption. If it is a alternative public montessori school then they do have to take it regardless of what they tell you.
