Our new Golden is on his way!

I've posted here off and on about wanting to have a second dog join our family, but I never quite found the right situation. Well, the situation found us! The short story is that my female Golden's litter mate (male) will be joining our family tomorrow morning. They are 2 1/2 years old. It is somewhat unexpected, although entirely welcome. Our new guy's owner has had some life circumstances change, which will not allow for the keeping of his dog. We're very fortunate that we were approached about the situation, and fortunate to be in the position to say yes to it.

I have a little case of nerves, hoping all will go well, and hoping not to feel to overwhelmed. Wish us luck!

No pics yet-I haven't yet had a moment to catch my breath!

This poor guy has been through a lot of transitions in the past two days, prior to coming to my home. He is very people-oriented, and hasn't seemed to socialize with other dogs. He's a bit freaked by my dog (his sister) and essentially is ignoring her, with a few moments of curiosity. He won't leave my side, and every time I open the door he thinks he's getting back in the car. He seems gentle and sweet. My golden, who I previously saw as submissive, looks anything but that next to this guy. My kids are going to go gently around him (as much as they can!).

I think it's going to take some good bonding time to help him feel at home and relax enough to explore with his sister. He also seems to have been fed table scraps, and isn't eating his food yet, but he is drinking just fine.

Any BTDT advice?
