Guilty pleasures? And kids shows you hate?

What are your guilty pleasures? And what kids shows drive you up the wall?

guilty pleasures:
Wife Swap (they show 3 episodes a day on Lifetime. It coincides with DD's naptime and when DS likes to play quietly in his room. I can clean my whole house while and episode or 2 is on. It's fascinating.), Suze Orman (but then I catch myself talking. like. her. with. periods. between. everything.), and this HORRIBLE show on Oxygen called The Mom Show. It's like a bad SNL skit. Oooh, and Real Housewives. I loved Jersey and secretly would love to live a few weeks as Theresa with her 'juicy' husband and house filled with onyx and granite. lol

bad kids shows: WonderPets (the speech impediments annoy me..."this is sewious!" and Backyardigans- I hate that they have such 'ethnic' names- Pablo, Uniqua, Tasha, Tyrone.. Why can't a black kid be named 'Joe' or a white kid be named 'Jamal'? Also, anyone seen Gullah Gullah Island? It's unbelievably horrible. And, of course, The Fresh Beat Band, aka the Jumparounds. Twist gives me nightmares.

I'm just curious, how do you determine the race of an orange moose, a yellow hippo, a pink bug like creature and a blue penguin?
I guess the Backyardigans are my guilty pleasure. I love their imaginations and their catchy tunes.

who says those characters are "black"? what led you to think they are? because they have "black voices"?

I love the Backyardigans but I simply cannot stand Hip Hop Harry.

I really really really like Phineas and Ferb. I don't really have any guilty mom shows. My husband and I watched a show called Strange that only had six or seven episodes. It was odd and SO not the kind of thing I normally watch. I want to recommend it but I feel like I have to add all these qualifiers - oh, yes, it is kind of cheesy and the special effects are awful and the premise is kind of...silly. And the budget can't have been much but...it's really good? So watch it?

I hate Hi 5. So much.

Well, I created a whole thread about how I hate Sid the Science Kid, so there you go. The thing that annoys me most about kid shows is simply the repetition. I swear I have seen certain episodes a MILLION times.

Guilty pleasure - the Tudors. Have only seen the first 2 seasons and are eagerly awaiting 3 to come out on DVD.

I don't know if it's truly guilty, but dh and I LOVE Malcolm in the Middle. That show was hilarious. (and sometimes I feel a lot of kinship with Lois )

I have so many guilty pleasure shows... I do love Phineas and Ferb, as pp said. It cracks me up... And I hate to admit it, but now that I have DVR, I have started watching General Hospital again...okay, and One Life to Live... I can't believe I just admitted that... L Word, Hell's Kitchen, Survivor, Amazing Race

Kids shows I hate - Wonder Pets, Lazytown, Doodlebops (not sure they are on anymore), and most especially Teletubbies. Ds never watched it but I saw enough to know I really, intensely, disliked it... I know there are so many more...

Kids show I can't stand are Wow Wow Wubsy and Yo Gabba Gabba. I prefer slower, calmer shows for kids like Little Bear or Oswald. However, the Penguins of Madagascar are pretty funny.

My guilty pleasures are Gossip Girl and RealHousewives (any series, although NY and ATL are my favs). I also love to watch Chopped on TFN and am excited for Jeff Lewis' Bravo show to return.

My guilty pleasure is Young & The Restless (I watch it before I go to work on Soap Channel).

The kid shows I can't stand are Hannah Montana and The Suite Life of Zach & Cody.

I LOVE Malcolm, and I'm so glad they've started airing it again. I started watching it when it first aired! Those boys are such trouble, but in a fun way, and you know they all love each other in the end. Lois is a bit much for me sometimes, though. Poor woman is going to get an anyeurism one day! Is it wrong that my 5-year-old son is now into this show? He's really getting away from a lot of the kids' shows that he used to watch, and I'm mostly happy about that.

I wish Noggin would show "The Upside Down Show" again! We loved that show... so creative and silly and fun. Loved Shane and David, and their Aussie accents!

My only guilty pleasure, and I can't really even call it 'guilty', is Top Gear on BBC America, the great, crazy car show. I love those guys, and the challenges are so fun to watch. Ice hockey in Scandinavia with Mini Coopers and giant blow-up puck? Come on, it's pure comedy gold!

Yes. Because there was such obvious stereotyping w/ the names and what seemed to be the characters ethnicities. I then googled to see if I was correct. For example, Tyrone is a kid named Jordan Coleman, who is black. I wanted to see if perhaps I was wrong, and Tyrone was by chance a Jewish-looking kid from Jersey, but alas, I was right.

I hate that. I remember a show on PBS when I was growing up that the black kid played basketball and the Asian girl liked math. I find it offensive.

Oh, God, I love Malcolm in the Middle. My mother was very sweet and loving but watching that show makes me remember THOSE days when we'd just driven her up the wall and she was thisclose to losing her mind. (And then I feel like her when I'm having one of THOSE days myself! )

Hey! I L O V E Top Gear, it's a not-guilty pleasure. LOL I'm a total car nut, and the camera work is absolutely amazing. I liked when they played soccer with all the little cars, it looked like so much fun!

My guilty pleasures are Wife Swap, The Real World, The Hills, Maury, That 70's Show, Degrassi....that's all I can think of for now. I like reality shows and dumb shows sometimes. I mean, you gotta watch SOMETHING in between watching National Geographic and History channel, right Oh, and I do also like Phineas and Ferb. Seriously, a platapus? How many shows have platapi (platapuses???).

Kids shows I hate: Hannah Montana (my neices are obsessed, it makes me want to vomit), Suite Life. Luckily DD doesn't watch too much TV, she's too busy crawling around and exploring.

My guilty pleasures are kids shows, Hannah Montana; Suite Life (on Deck); Wizards of Waverly Place.

Kids shows I hate? Hmmm......theres not many anymore. My kids have outgrown those over the top little kids shows. (yes, I am aware HM and the like are quite over the top, )

I had to pipe in here...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Backyardagins...the imagination thing really appeals to me

Lazytown is a favorite here...The entire cast lives with us (as DD's 'tend' friends) They have entire lives and families in our house and have to be buckled into the car...I just hate it when Ziggie gets blamed for EVERYTHING!

I absolutely HATE Dora...can that girl say anything without screaming? and Calliou..the constant whining hurts my ears.

Gulity pleasures...well, I DVR Whale Wars and Deadliest Catch and I LOVE Eureka.

Not really guilty about any of my shows, but I love The Wonder Pets, Scooby Doo (esp the old ones from when I was a kid), Wizards of Waverly Place (yay, my daughter is hooked too), and I don't mind Hannah Montana or Suite Life. Wizards is the only one I seek out, though . . . every night . . . even after the kids are in bed.

I hate Dora, Diego, Backyardigans, and just about all other kids cartoons.
