At what age did your baby's feedings drop dramatically?

For DS' first 3.5 months, he nursed every 45 - 90 minutes and comfort nursed a lot. Then one day he dropped to every 2 hours, and stayed at that frequency for about a week. Then all of a sudden, one day he started going 3.5-4 hours with NO comfort nursing! It's now been that way for a little more than a week. I don't know what to do with myself. I miss the down time. I miss the extra snuggles.
He's traded constant nursing for giggles and napping alone, which sometimes I love, but I miss my little baby.

Mine wasn't ever into comfort nursing, but she has, in the past week or so (2.5 mos) started eating much more quickly. I thought she was just awake a lot more, but then I realized it was that she can finish both sides in 20-25 min instead of 45. I agree, I don't quite know what to do with myself.

Right there with you. DS is almost 4mo. He's a comfort nurser too. It used to be that he would nurse for 20-30mins every hour (like clock work) and then it dropped to every couple of hours. Now it's almost random. Half the time I'm thinking "he needs to eat" he throws a fit because I try to get him to nurse.

*sighs* I think it's just a growing up thing. I miss the cuddles too...

I was going to pop in and say 22 months is when I noticed a big drop off but I see you are experiencing something earlier. Rest assured the nursing frequency will pick up again just as soon as you get used to this new schedule.
