Pregnant Women + Flu Shot

I encourage everyone to read the vaccine package inserts which clearly state that even the regular flu shot is not approved for pregnant women, although they still try to pass it on us. Tamiflu is also not approved for pregnant and nursing mom's and in their animal trials caused problems.

I'm just annoyed how the news keeps saying pregnant woment 1st in line etc. etc. The inserts also clearly state a link with Guilline Barr Syndrome and Bells Palsy.

People should read the inserts!

The manufactuers and CDC routinely say that vaccines are safe for all kinds of populations upon whom no safety trials have been conducted (pregnant women, preemies, children with pre-exsisting medical conditions) it's disgusting!

Actually pregnant women are included in many trials; they are also being included in the h1n1 trials as well. I use to think that line on it never being tested on anyone but healthy children/adults was true but not anymore. There are trials, for example, on kids with HIV.

I think we just need to be more specific; certain vaccines have been tested on pregnant women while I am sure others have not. Some vaccines have been tested on premies and kids with HIV while others have not.

To the bolded...can you post a link. I would be interested in this as from what I have been able to acertain, the trials here in the US at this point do NOT include pregnant women

But, results (if you believe that this hurried research produces valid results) won't be available in time for this season, since it takes, you know, 9 months to gestate.

Sounds like it is not happening yet. I will be interetsed in when they do make their decision. The current trails underway (began about 2 weeks ago) are only in healthy adults (18-64) and the elderly (over 65). If this deems "safe" (after monitoring for a mere 3 weeks) they will commence on testing on children (ages 6 months-17 years)

I was just speaking of the package inserts that come in each individual vaccine. This is for the seasonal flu:

"If Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) has occurred within 6 weeks of previous influenza vaccination, the decision to give Fluzone should be based on careful consideration of the potential benefits and risks. (5.1)

The package insert of H1N1 isn't out yet. I do know however that it will contain Squalene which was the cause of all the problem with the military people in the Anthrax vaccine.

I haven't checked my references so I could be wrong here, but I think it is the flumist (weakened live virus) sprayed up the nose that is not recommended for pregnant women. I think they've always said the other kind (injected) was safe for pregnant women. Of course we all know not to believe their lies!

I can't read the pdf files to check on this, computer gliche at the moment, so please do correct me if I'm wrong but I did want to comment on the fact that under "influenza- pandemic" category on that page, it lists H5N1 by sanofi - pasteur, apr 07. Isn't this a bit strange - I meant, we haven't had a pandemic of this type have we? (although we almost did back in Jan or Feb this year when Baxter contaminated flu vaccine with live H5N1 virus and sent it off to countries for people to be vaccinated against seasonal flu!)

The company that released contaminated flu virus material from a plant in Austria confirmed Friday that the experimental product contained live H5N1 avian flu viruses.

...

“But what remains unanswered are the circumstances surrounding the incident in the Baxter facility in Orth-Donau.”

The contaminated product, a mix of H3N2 seasonal flu viruses and unlabelled H5N1 viruses, was supplied to an Austrian research company. The Austrian firm, Avir Green Hills Biotechnology, then sent portions of it to sub-contractors in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Germany.

The contamination incident, which is being investigated by the four European countries, came to light when the subcontractor in the Czech Republic inoculated ferrets with the product and they died. Ferrets shouldn’t die from exposure to human H3N2 flu viruses.
The bolding above is mine. So let's see... they admit this was intended to be an "experimental" product??? Unbelievable. And they were experimenting for what reason?? The very fact they had that many "experimental" vials on hand is pretty scary. And the fact that they are NOT being held accountable for their "mistake" is even scarier.
