Samuel Thomas is here, now one week old!

Last Monday we had our little boy. Two hours of water broke intense labor at a birth center and he is finally here! He was 9lbs 4 oz, 21 inches long and had a 14 1/2 inch head! I did not rip or tear, completely intact! I had a hard week of recovery, every bone in my body hurt. I am finally feeling like myself today. My nipples are on fire!!! Any suggestions, his latch is open and I try to keep his bottom lip pulled down but my nipples still really hurt! Samuel Thomas is doing great, thank goodness for co-sleeping and nursing because we are actually getting sleep. Good luck all you mommas who are waiting for babies, it will be baby time before you know it and then the real work begins!

Get SOOTHIES pads.. They helped me so much! Also, if you get too torn up, you can pump on one side for 2 days to let everything heal and then switch to the other side. I waited way too long to do this (5 weeks old), I should have done it around 2 weeks. Remember, the pain will eventually stop. It's the best thing you can do for your baby. Good luck!

congratulations, mama!

sorry you're so sore wish i had some words of wisdom, but i just applied lansinoh after each feeding to guard against chapping and stuck it out...eventually it stopped feeling like a nipple piercing every time.

Congratulations! I have very sensitive skin and it always takes a good couple of weeks for my nipples to "toughen" up once we start nursing again.

9 lb baby and no tearing.:: Thats awesome!
I wish I could help with the nipple issues. Mine never hurt, just every other part of my engorged breast. Hang in there.
