Curves - Page 12

Just wondering what you all do with your DC?

My DH gets up at 4:45 am for work and gets home around 6pm. With everything there is to do with dinner, laundry, dishes and getting DS to bed by 9:30 I don't know when I would be able to go.

Is there childcare there? We just moved to a place where we have no family and friends for childcare.

Thanx

Hmm, that's a hard one. I think some locations offer childcare, but mine does not (small town and small location). I get up at 6:10 so I have time to get dressed, brush my teeth and hair, get my workout in and come home as dh is leaving for work. I have a 15 minute window, so if I am running more than 15 minutes late I can't get my workout in.

I hope you can work something out! It sounds like your dh leaves much earlier than any Curves location would open (and who would want to work out at 4am anyway! ). Good luck.

I just joined!

Hey, I mostly lurk but had to jump on this one! I just joined and had my first workout this morning before work! I'm so excited! I usually can barely drag my behind out of bed in time to get to work but I feel awesome today after my workout! You all have given me such motivation. Keep up the great work everyone!

I joined mid Jan of this year, so I've been going for three months now. I love it. It is easy to make myself go, easy to set aside time to do it, and I've lost 13 lbs and 8.5'' so far, which for me is great, because I've been at pretty much the exact same weight since dd was born 19 months ago. I do wish that there were more young people at mine. I think the average age is 55-60. There is another one pretty much the same distance away, so I might check out that one instead.
Dp and I are getting married in June, so my goal is to be as toned as possible by then.

missbliss- I see one momma in her 20s I'd say. A few in their 40s and the rest are in their 50s or so. I think a lot of the younger ones just go at a different time. I go around 6AM when they open.

I tend to go at different times, whenever I can get my partner to commit to watching dd, so I really feel that everyone who goes there is older. Which is fine, except they tend not to chat with me.

Wow Heather! That's fantastic!

Ya know, I don't know how much I've lost total... since I've been pregnant and nursing most of the time I have been a member. :LOL My weight has done a lot of fluctuating!

If I get back on gear eating a giant salad for lunch every day again I think I'd get to where I want to be. I don't know exactly what weight, but less jiggling of the tummy.

I have read every single post on this tread Can I join you? I am starting to save up so I have the money to join curves. Reading this topic helped me decide. I am just under 200 pounds and I am only 5'4". The most I have ever weighed (even while pregnant) is 203!
I can't wait to get started. I am a little nervous about finding the time to get there. With 3 kids and NO babysitter and a dh that just started working long hours I hope I can swing it. I miss working out. Pre-kids I was at the gym 5-7 days a week for 2 hours or more. I loved it! I was never a really small person ( lowest weight was 130) but I was fit, strong and looked good I miss that too.

My dream is to be 140 or less but my real goal is too just feel better! Weight loss would be nice but feeling good is my goal.

I have been pregnant and or nursing for over 6 years so I don't know what will happen when my youngest nursling weans. (she is almost 2) Will I gain weight? Will it be easier to loose? ? Who known?

Candice,

Good luck! : I feel pretty darn good (the exception is when I eat junk food : )... and I'm 144ish and 5'2". I've been a member of Curves for five years now and pregnant and/or nursing the whole time! :LOL I like to think it's helped to keep me from gaining more weight, but it's so hard to know. I'd LOVE to be 130lb again, but probably won't reach that until ds weans (he's almost two)... I'm trying to eat more fruit and veggies every day, so we'll see if that helps.

The only time I easily lose weight is during pregnancy, providing I don't pig out on cheese and ice cream. Go figure!

Keep us updated!

Hi there,
I just joined Curves and completed my first workout last night. I really enjoyed it and can feel it today. I'm optimistic and hopeful that this will be a good thing for me.

I decided to begin ballet classes once I feel a little slimmer. I'm gonna do it!
Thanks so much for your support.

I'm going to join Curves! I am new to this forum and when I read all the good things about Curves I decided to go check it out. I had a workout there and loved it. I can't wait to start losing the pounds!

I joined Curves in August of 2004, I was working out on a regular basis until like Decemeber/January. My school schedule was getting the best of me and the weather didnt help either. I have been doing a SMALL walking gig here and there but have been contimplating going back to Curves. I am wondering if any of you started at Curves while pregnant? I enjoyed it a lot before but just not sure how I will do with my jumbo belly hanging out there!

I also want to say Congrat's to everyone who is joining/participating in the Curves program!

This thread has been dormant for awhile, but I wanted to stop in. I am going to sign up tomorrow. I used to exercise regularly, even after my first baby. But after #2, who was much less independent than my first and would not sleep through the night, it was much harder! Now, I find myself heaver than I've ever been (I don't think I'm fat, just not in the shape I know I could be with a little effort) and wanting to change that. With a STRONG family history of heart disease and diabetes, I know it's vital that I stay active!

Anyway, I used to love going to the gym for the weight machines and I also like aerobics. But getting anywhere by a certain time for a class was not working. I like that I can jump in whenever I get there! I also like that I can get my heart rate up AND strength train.

Joining is a big deal b/c dh is in school full time. So our finances are tight. I have decided to make this a priority. Now my biggest obstacle is getting there when it opens at 6:30. Kids are still sleeping and dh is still home!

I'm really glad one is now located close to me. I'd love to hear more success stories and even obstacles that you had to overcome. Thanks for all the sharing!
