Organic fertilizer for my lawn? Rec's needed

I need to fertilize my lawn this fall... I have read a couple of articles about fertilizing and am confused...

I just want to get rid of these stupid sand burrs, so I have done hours and hours and hours and HOURS of reading, trying to figure it out. I think I have a plan of action, which involves, fertilizing my lawn, planting clover, and when the clover is established, spreading corn meal gluten in the spring.

Do I really have to go have my dirt analyzed before I can buy fertilizer? I would love to be lazy, can't I just get a fertilizer that will do everything? or do I really need to know more about what components are missing?

Any recommendations for an organic fertilizer? I saw a web site which recommended 2-3 different ones, depending on what the person wanted to do. I just want to kill some weeds and encourage the small amount of grass I actually have... and the clover, once it's planted... and NOT spend all of my days messing with this darned lawn (I hate yard work).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Lawn care was always the ex-H's job, so I am just clueless.

Not much more organic than that! This place is local to me & super awesome. I highly recommend them for all your worm needs.

Whoa... you are kidding me...

That looks really neat. Thank you!

My 5 year old is going to be in heaven.

See, a lot of times the greener solution is the way to go for lazy slobs like me.

I've heard that sand burrs can be prevented by spreading lime. (Not sure if this is the same plant that you are having a problem with - maybe you can check with your extension office??)
