I just came to post about this. It was on MSNBC. Here's a link:

I think that thing is downright odd. All my son's dolls and animals nurse - WITHOUT flower-nipples. He just does like I do, lifts up his shirt and nurses away. He had to have a bit of help the other day when we had his possum in a silk scarf baby carrier. I know, it was pretty complicated for me to learn to nurse him while he was in a wrap.
Seriously, I'm not sure a flower-nippled halter top for nursing your baby doll sends the message that BFing is normal. Natural or not, I know lots of mamas who have given their babies bottles, but I have never known a mama to nurse her little one from a flower on her shirt.

How is a breastfeeding doll "hypersexualizing" young girls? And why is 7 an "inappropriate age" for girls to be mimicking breastfeeding? Grrrrr....

I personally think the flower nipple that causes the doll to suckle is no different than a doll that makes sucking noises when you place a bottle to its mouth. I don't know how a doll manufacturer could make a doll that would respond to a real nipple.

I also think the halter top is a nice bridge for many parents that would be uncomfortable with their little girls literally lifting their shirts to pretend to nurse.

CK - that was an awesome likn . I cant believe them saying that a a girl should stop pretending to nurse her toys between 5 and 7 . And they didnt mention boys at all :

I think it's a step in the right direction for Spain. I lived there for two years and saw only 2 Spanish women nursing. Bottles and formula are literally EVERYWHERE. The halter and flowers are a little weird, but if this helps move them more towards normalizing breastfeeding, then more power to them!

about the daisy....

I know everyone is erked about the daisy but, the reason it seems they did this or added the bra to the set at all was because they needed something to activate the sucking noises. The baby makes nursing noises when you touch it's mouth to the daisy. Without the daisy it would just be like any other doll really. So while I understand why people are thrown off by the daisy it seems they had to come up with something that wasnt overly offensive to parents like a big ol' sticker with a nipple on it would be to most of the masses.

On a semi-related note. Dd occasionally looks as if she is about to BF one of her dolls or stuffed animals then at the last minute gives them a bottle. She holds them up to her closely, puts a pillow on her lap (like I do when I BF ds), pulls up her shirts..... then squeezes a bottle between her and the baby and gives them that instead. Silly kid. Ds has never had a bottle or any kind or cup (BF only) and dd was off the bottle and onto sippy cups by 4 months old so she didn't get the idea from me! Must be that darn TV again . Maybe I should just sneak the toy bottles (that came with babies other people bought her.... I've actually never bought a baby doll for her now that I think about it) out of her room while she's sleeping.

I showed the link to DD and she said "that's cool, I want one!"

I agree that the entire point of the floral halter is to have something to stick the magnet in so the baby will make the special effects.

DD doesn't actually play with the baby dolls she does have much, but when she's gotten them I've never allowed her to keep the bottles that came with, and she did go through a phase as a toddler/preschooler when she would 'nurse' them.

If you're going to go in for sound effects in toys, this is way cooler than a doll that responds to a bottle, imo.

Here's a link to a local News anchor's blog about this

And here's the FOX25 article itself

I can't express the disgust in the anchor's voices during their commercial break promos.

Personally, I think it is a sweet little thing. Once you get past the 'lifelike, moving baby doll' thing.
